The pump doesn't really run that much once there's pressure in the line, so it shouldn't be to annoying under the seat.

That's why I have a hard time messing with things like this, not because a push-start wouldn't be cool, but because I always end up having gremlins sneaking up later. Awesome tenacity though!

x2 on the control arm bushings. They are pretty easy to press in and out, or you can get the whole arms with new bushings installed for a higher price tag. Inspect the bushings to see if any look worn. Do a search and you'll see plenty of write-ups.

Simplest things first: Take the wheel off and check the pads, be sure they have plenty of meat left and that they are intact. Take the 20min to check, even though it's a pain in the butt.
