Sorry...a little late responding, but yes, the Denso was a perfect fit. Golf tees also work well for plugging lines.

    How to radiator replacement

I'll be doing this on my son's 4Runner tomorrow. I replaced the radiator on my girlfriend's Lexus RX330 yesterday, so this looks a LOT easier. However, I have a question after looking at the existing radiator still on the vehicle, and now looking at the new one I received today (Denso from...

Maybe you missed or crossed-up vacuum hoses when reassembling. That would affect the idling.

    (Another) Starter Contacts Removal Thread!

Got mine done. I have a 2WD, so I took the starter out through the bottom towards the front. I did take the flaps down a bit in the wheel well (fore and aft of the strut), but I only used the openings for viewing and reaching. I did not remove the exhaust bracket; it really didn't come into...

    (Another) Starter Contacts Removal Thread!

Hmmm...I'm thinking this may have already been done on my used vehicle. There is no plastic cover over the starter wire nut, and the black plastic slide-on connector is being held in place with a zip tie. Someone must have broken the connector on the starter at some point, because there is not...

    (Another) Starter Contacts Removal Thread!

Great write-up! I think I'm going to have to do this on my son's runner. It only starts about every 4th try or so, and when it doesn't start, it kind of has a buzz/humm noise when attempting to crank.

    Valve cover gasket thread???

I took note of the flipping over as well, and thought it was a good idea...at first. But he must have removed those hoses at some point. It would be a real pain to try and remove the valve cover on that side without doing so. And as you point out, it's a good chance to give the TB a cleaning.

    Valve cover gasket thread???

During my trial run, I noticed that the VC bolts were very loose. They came loose easily by hand. I tightened them all and will wait til later to finish the job, but already have the new gaskets and seals, so will probably go ahead and do it soon. I really need to clean the engine first, then...

That's a good video, but he skips the changing of the half-moon plugs and camshaft plugs.

    Valve cover gasket thread???

Okay, I made a trial run at this yesterday, and now I understand the problem many guys had with the wiring harness for the fuel injectors. The harness is very brittle, and the clips and mounts holding it up off the engine block are pretty much shot. Some guys replaced theirs with a flexible...

    Valve Cover Gasket PN's

Money isn't really the issue for those little guys. It's more about time and accessibility on a weekend, and availability of all the parts at the time, and which ones are critical. And it's my son's vehicle, so I have work around his 'schedule' sometimes.

    Valve Cover Gasket PN's

Thanks, yeah, I read that article, but shopping around I didn't see them available, but finally found a set. How about the 16 'washer seals'? Are those reusable? It's tough to find all the parts at one store, so wondering how critical some of these things truly are. Thanks again.

I'm a little confused on the plugs, though. In some parts pics they look like a ring, in others it looks like a solid disc. And this is below the bearing cap?

What about the camshaft plug, PCV grommet, etc.? Is that overkill? I guess it just depends on the condition of the ones that are already there.

That seems like a lot of parts. One kit I saw at AdvanceAutoParts just had the two valve cover gaskets and six spark plug gaskets. Are the rest of those parts really necessary?
