I understand there is a sensor that may affect the overdrive not changing up in my 1989 toyota truck. Does anybody know where this sensor is located? I would appreciate any help. Thanks!!

I have a 1989 Toyota pickup, 2 wheel drive, 4 cylinder. It takes my truck approx 20 minutes on local roads to change up to overdrive.l If I am on highway, it doesn't change at all unless I pull over and let the engine run for about 10 minutes in idle, then it will change out after I take off...
