    Fuel Pump Replacement Advice

OEM fuel pumps do last a long while - mine gave out last summer at 24yrs and 365k - cannot ask for better. Enjoy those Runners.

Airbox inlet instead of deckplate mod?

A tiny bit of power (less than a small lawnmower amount) can be had be removing the Whole air dampner which is after the MAF and before the plenum. More noise too which is the purpose of the crazy shaped 'box'. "straight tube" it between the MAF and plenum - supposedly adds about 5-7 hp, which...

Front end bushing complete "kit". I thought there was a post about this

Well the parts will vary based on the MY. Mine is an 01 yet for the springs and shocks I used 99 talls - otherwise they are all 01 OEM parts listed below plus a few extras while i was at it. I got all this from toyota parts lists so verify your MY. 2 X Front Springs - Blue / Yellow...

Yeah OEM is best - pricey yet look how long they lasted.

Toyota's official word on Pinging or Knocking

Crazy - I have not experienced pre-detonation in any situation - low altitude or high (is I-70 west of Denver enough). Guessing ignition timing has been verified to be between 8-12 btdc?

    Yota1 Transmission Update No. 1

Prices probably have gone up but 2 yrs ago mine was $2650 + 400 for a core. Delivery can hurt and add 400 more depending on where in the country. Yet its All worth it - outstanding work. Speed is not their specialty - they were upfront and told me it would take 6-8 weeks and it did. The...

    Intermittent low idle & stalling

So when cleaning the throttle body - was the flapper and its pivot points cleaned really well also? Does the flapper sit ever so slightly open? It should. Luck and enjoy your Runner.

Chasing a p0171. Do I need to remove throttle body to clean?

I would not as a first step in an 0171 situation. So you have already checked and double checked every hose connection and hose itself between the MAF and intake plenum? The large ribbed hose is a common leak point. Also just because it does not leak while testing at idle does not mean it...

Engine & Transmission Noise / Trip Prep

Double check the Transfer Case vibration damper is on tight - mine was a bit loose (only 2 bolts/nuts) and would only rattle when idling in gear (and really could only hear if window was rolled down like at a drive thru).

    Drivetrain binding -- IN AWD

I would start looking at local wrecker shops - TCs on Runners do not fail very often and when they do its just gaskets needing replacing so you should be able to find a good one for not much since there are so many out there. Luck and enjoy the Runner.

    Yota1 Transmission Update No. 1

This update is at 22K since its life began Dec 2022. The trans has operated flawlessly since yet I decided to do a D-F using Maxlife. The original fluid was Toyota TIII (non-synthetic). I let it drain for a couple hours and when I returned it was still dripping about 1 drop every 2 seconds or...

Hesitation while accelerating, mild gas smell, P0301 and p0171

The 0171 is most likely a leak in air intake - when mine had that code it needed a new intake hose - see pic. That code alone will make it run poorly and use lots more gas as the ECU is trying to make up for the extra air from the leak by adding all the fuel it can and it is still not enough -...
