Yota1 Transmission Update No. 1

This update is at 22K since its life began Dec 2022. The trans has operated flawlessly since yet I decided to do a D-F using Maxlife. The original fluid was Toyota TIII (non-synthetic). I let it drain for a couple hours and when I returned it was still dripping about 1 drop every 2 seconds or so. I measured what came out - right at 6 qts. I run a 699 haydon and temps never exceed 190 (stop-go) while normal driving yields 170.

The bolt magnet had Zero on it and I am thinking based on attached pic the fluid was not near needing replacement. May go 30K next time

Yota1 does a great job - they are over worked so patience is necessary.

Good to hear your Yota1 Performance rebuilt transmission is holding up for you. Yota1 Performance has been by far the best company affiliation I have made over the past 10 years I've been running the Timmy the Toolman YouTube channel with [MENTION=102606]infamousRNR[/MENTION]. Nick and his wife Rebecca are great people and they aren't just a business relationship for myself, they are also my friends. Nick is one of the most knowledgeable people I have come across in the industry. He is a wealth of knowledge and a very skilled mechanic.

In regards to the frequency at which to perform drain and refills, I do them every other engine oil change, which is around every 10k miles. I don't let mine drain over night like you did so I usually exchange around 4.5 quarts. I replace my Magnefine inline filter every 20k miles. It might seem like overkill, but ATF isn't that expensive and cheap insurance to give your auto trans longevity. I drive in the mountains a fair amount, so my transmission is reaching higher temps than the person who uses their rig as a grocery-getter. The higher the temps, the lower the effective life of the fluid.

Have about 15K on mine I had done in December 23', getting ready to do a flush soon, less out of necessity more out of curiosity. Have had zero issues and hundreds of miles of off roading in the high temp dusty desert. The dudes at Yota1 were awesome the entire time. I'm in southern california but my dad lives about 15min from Yota1. Whenever I'm up there I try and have something lined up for them to do for me. Great shop, most knowledgeable folks around

My wifes 2002 Yota1 transmission that we got last fall has been pretty flawless. I have not touched the fluid yet. One of the techs there told me it wasn't really necessary to D&F the trans until it has some miles on it. The EVAP system on the other hand is going to put me in the looney bin! I just ordered the last of what needs to be replaced on top of the gas tank. That will be here by end of the week from McGeorge. What's another $300 right???? Now she has a P0304 that keeps popping up which started this weekend. I have already rebuilt the top end twice so I am thinking it is either plug, wire, injector or coil? Will find out this evening.....UGH! I am really getting tired of working on this hunk of metal!

How much are the transmission rebuilds? And what was the turnaround time like?

Prices probably have gone up but 2 yrs ago mine was $2650 + 400 for a core. Delivery can hurt and add 400 more depending on where in the country. Yet its All worth it - outstanding work.

Speed is not their specialty - they were upfront and told me it would take 6-8 weeks and it did. The ladies up front are super busy so you may need to call more than once for updates yet they are all nice folks to deal with including the rebuilders themselves with any technical questions.

Was about the same for me price wise. With labor (little more than just the trans swap) I think I paid $4,000ish after core charge and everything. I live about 6 1/2 hours away from them and my 4runner is my only vehicle. They were awesome. My dad lives about 30mi away. Wasn't feasible to either have the truck up there for 2 months or have the core shipped up, rebuilt, shipped back, and installed here, etc etc etc.

They were gracious enough given the circumstances to turn my truck around in a little less than two weeks while ALSO replacing my rear passenger sway bar dogleg and about 20" of my frame while I stayed at my dads place. Awesome guys, great shop, super professional and knowledgeable. Haven't had an issue in the (not so gentle) 20k miles I've put on it.
