    Engine Grinding (Video)

sounds to me like a belt pulley, water pump bushing or alternator bushing/bearing failing. i would not drive it long distances until fixed, just to be safe. i would say its def not internal or a heat shield, too screechy. it sounds to me like a water pump bushing failing and the impeller...

    eKeyless Entry fob

no such luck. thanks for the reply, though. these are not factory fobs. the guy was good enough to send me a second one but i cant get it to work either, and he doesnt have any other methods for me to try. kind of annoying that they offer a product that doesnt seem to be fully tested...

    how do you remove

brakes are referred to as a static hydraulic system. there is no pressure until you press the pedal. you can not 'open' the system without allowing air in. air is compressible, brake fluid is not. so, to answer your question, no. any time you remove any brake component that is part of the...

    elocker rebuild?

i recently picked up an elocker from a boneyard (everything but the button, oddly enough). i'm having trouble finding a wiring schematic so that i can run some bench tests on it. i just want to check the functionality of the locker and change any/all wear parts (bearings, seals, gaskets)...

Holy crap... $900 for pads, calipers and rotors?

its sort of strange that they wanted to put new calipers on. you rarely have to replace them unless they are leaking at the piston seal or overextended, and if either of those two things are happening then you would have crashed from not being able to stop. also, the pins that hold the pads in...

Rear latch busted . . . is it tough to replace?

I just remembered that the latch you need was $143 from my local dealer. But I got one online through a nationwide salvage parts locator for $50 shipped.

Rear latch busted . . . is it tough to replace?

Whoops. I thought this was for the handle. Sorry. But I replaced the latch too. It is cable driven and pretty easy to get to. The cable goes from the latch to the opener linkage which is off to the side near the lock so it's not too difficult to access. Sorry for the confusion.

Rear latch busted . . . is it tough to replace?

i just did this, myself. i had no luck finding one at a salvage yard, which i thought was a good thing. lol a new one was $70 from the dealer. you'll have to go from the inside. its held on by two nuts on studs and not too difficult, just a tough reach around the window actuator. also, you...

    Keyless entry

Will a factory keyless entry system from a 2nd gen work on my 97? If so is it a plug and play or will I need a different ecu? Thanks Edit: I checked with the dealer and they didn't have any info on it since Toyo doesn't offer it as a separately sold item anymore.
