    "High Mileage" 5th Gen

See link below. They screen the oil being supplied to the oil control valves in your valve covers. They should be clean unless you do a lot of excessive idling or long OCI. then they can catch sludge. https://www.toyota-4runner.org/2921447-post30836.html

    THAT'S what that button does!

Is there a "Party Mode" button on there too?

    Oil filter color change?

I did an oil change in my Land Cruiser yesterday using a filter I purchased at the dealer parts counter. It was orange like the one in your picture. Unless they bought theirs from Amazon I would say it's a color change from a different manufacturer. Box said made in Thailand I think. I also...

If You Off-road Your 5th Gen with P-metric Tires Please Vote

I'm running KO2 C rated on the 4runner and supposedly crappy P rated Bridgestone Dueler HT on my Land Cruiser. No issues with either but the P rated tires seem to have better road manners and ride quality given the lower inflation pressures for general road use. Off road, no issues with...

    Interior fan loud after reinstall

When my bearing started whining I sprayed some T-9 on it and it hasn't whined since. Been years. There's a write-up on here somewhere but it's pretty simple.

    Oil Filter Drain Gasket Failure

Easy to pinch those, have to work the drain cap back and forth a few times until it finds its home in the groove before torquing to 10ft

    Front Wheel Hum

Front wheel bearing maybe. With wheel off ground, spin it and place your hand on the spring. If you feel vibration in the spring you need a new bearing. Not to bad of a job to do yourself if you have a pre-pressed assembly. Done it twice on mine. Edit to say I know you looked at the hub for...

Multiple Warning Lights and Rough Idle

If you have mo money i consider the one I have to be a bottom dweller. There are much better scanners out there that do more. I just don't plan on getting that far into it. For me, it either works or it gets replaced/fixed. I could care less what the o2 readings are for instance, only if it...

Multiple Warning Lights and Rough Idle

I have the innova 5210 because it also reads ABS codes. If I had it to do over, I would get one with a longer cord. They make much cheaper ones in the $20-$30 range. All you need is to be able to read/reset OBD2 and if desired ABS codes. After that, google and a smartphone to look them up...

Multiple Warning Lights and Rough Idle

I suggest everyone on this forum needs to get a OBD code reader and keep it in the car. They make them affordable these days and can save you some down time for simple things like o2 sensors, etc. Not knowing why you have warning lights and driving is unnecessary risk. In a pinch, most auto...

    "High Mileage" 5th Gen

Still hovering around 250k now that my DD is the Land Cruiser. No major issues or replacements yet, replaced the belt a couple weeks ago for the heck of it.

    Alternator Choice

I would only choose the larger if that is what you need or that is what the existing is rated at. Otherwise, will be wasting money assuming it costs more. The alternator will only produce what your vehicle will use.
