    What's your mileage and age?

2005 Sport Edition 4.7 V8 Bought just over a year ago in 2013 with 131,000. Now at 141,000. While it runs like new, I feel my old 3rd Gen 2002 4Runner was more solid at this point in the mileage. But, hopefully, it too will go over 200,000 with little or no problems.

How many miles on your 4runner?

I know I'm a little late on this one, but my old 2002 Sport Edition. Bought with 129,000 on it in 07, it made it to 200,100 before it was totaled. I swear it could have made it at least another 200,000 more. Did the usual maintenance. It was the most reliable Toyota I have owned. I do miss...

Highest Mileage Toyota in your Family

Toyota Family History As a big Toyota fan from an early age (and I don't quite no why), my parents bought, under my recommendation 1984 Camry LE. They were worried about it having 91,000 miles on it, but they bought it and ran it another 107,000 miles before trading it in. 1990 Camry LE V6...

How did you get your 4runner

My first 4Runner I bought myself with some financing of course. My 98 Tacoma was totaled when some guy pulled out in front of me and I had gotten over $9000 for it (when it was 9 years old and 183,000...they really do hold their value!), so I used that to buy my 2002 Sport Edition Then, the...

How do you start your 4th Gen?

I actually had a car that did this before I had gotten my 2005 Sport Edition, which is a Chevy Malibu Maxx (it's a company car). I got used to doing that with the Malibu that I would sometimes try it with the 3rd Gen 2002 I used to have. I felt like an idiot hen I did that. Now that my 2005...

Do you like the non-functioning hood scoop?

Little late here, but I wouldn't have a 4Runner without one. My last two have both been Sport Editions. It's non-functional, I know, but it just adds the cool look to it.

    ***Cracked Dashboard Action Request***

I'm wondering, would this be a case to submit to a local TV news station? I'm sure it would be interesting to hear Toyota respond to that! I would be willing to do that, but like I said before, my dash is (knock on wood) not cracked, so I wouldn't have anything to show them. It would at least...

    Going back to 3rd gen?

3.4 got around 15-17 MPG overall for me with 4 Speed Automatic. I did get around 16-18 MPG with it before I switched to the Pirelli ATR's, interestingly enough. I'm now getting 16.2 with the 4.7 V8 according to the display. I do mixed driving. Haven't gone on a long highway trip though with...

    Going back to 3rd gen?

Nice!! Yeah, mine has one in the back, but a lot of good that does me when the electronics I want to use are in the front. And unfortunately, it doesn't have the optional AC outlet. But, it's all good.

    ***Cracked Dashboard Action Request***

Wish I saw this before I bought a 4th Gen.... Guys, wow, sorry to hear about all these cracked dashboards. You've got me paranoid now. I just bought a 2005 4Runner Sport Edition. I never have seen a Toyota dashboard crack, and my family and I have owned many in the past. So it never...

    Going back to 3rd gen?

I know i'm a little late.... But, I just literally went from a 3rd Gen Sport Edition to a 4th Gen Sport Edition with the V8. It wasn't exactly by choice either. Totaled my 3rd Gen a few weeks ago. I loved that vehicle. It just turned 200,000 miles and I swear it would have gone at least...

    2005 Sport Edition V8

Hi all, Though I joined this forum when I bought my first 2002 4Runner in 2007, I haven't been on here since then. I totaled (my fault) my 2002 Sport Edition which just passed the 200,00 miles mark and still was going strong as ever....I am sure I could have gotten another 100,00 miles without...

Auto Climate Control vs. Manual Climate Control

Hey all, first time posting here. Got a 2002 Sport Edition and as you probably know, the auto climate control was not an option on the Sport Edition. My question is does anyone know what it would take to replace the manual unit with an automatic one? Or if it even can be done? Thanks.
