Oil change today in advance of the winter weather storm coming up this weekend here in NOVA. Kirkland Signature 5W-30 High Mileage Full Synthetic with a Fram PH3600 filter. 344,815 miles. Sheesh.

Overheating at idle with AC on.

Definitely sounds like a bad fan clutch to me! I replaced mine a few years ago with 300K plus on the original. Haven't had an issue since. I highly recommend an Aisin unit, they're inexpensive and can be had from RockAuto the last I saw

Truck failed state inspection the other day. Inspector states that the driver side rear axle seal is blown. I verified this as he invited me into the bay to take a look. Needless to say I wasn't very happy about that but I figured something was bound to happen. The truck has 342K trouble free...

The 3rd Gen All Questions Allowed Thread

I've since watched it and I'm definitely dreading this... next week I will take it over to a buddy's house and crawl up underneath it and poke around. If I can stretch this out until next January at least I'd be able to get it registered as an antique. Regardless, the work needs to get done. I'm...

The 3rd Gen All Questions Allowed Thread

I've barely done any research as this is new to me knowledge as of this morning, but evidently my 01 needs new rear axle seals. briefly read a writeup BFAD wrote about 15 years ago but just perused over it. to anyone who has done theirs recently, is it worth doing the job yourself or would I be...

What Did You Do To Your 3rd Gen Today?

That is a blessing my friend. especially with the way egg prices have been, having the ability to have them fresh from the backyard can't be beat. I tried the Kirkland oil a few years ago, but it was the regular synthetic and then I switched to the SuperTech full synthetic high mileage stuff...

What Did You Do To Your 3rd Gen Today?

Not so much what did I do today as it was what I bought today, for my 3rd gen :) Costco is running a sale right now through May 4th. Comes out to $14.99 for 5 quarts of full synthetic. not sure if anywhere else is gonna beat that. needless to say I stocked up and bought two boxes worth which...

What Did You Do To Your 3rd Gen Today?

One thing I truly miss about my ex is that she had 11 chickens... getting home-fresh eggs versus having to buy them from the grocery store was so so so awesome. I miss it. they tasted so much better than the store bought ones!

What Did You Do To Your 3rd Gen Today?

No idea about anything related to this collision, but I can speak from experience with my first 3rd gen when I was involved in an accident with it. It totaled the truck, airbags deployed, windshield cracked and everything... I walked away with hurt feelings and nothing else at only 18 years old...

Thanks for the feedback brother. What's with all this "yOu HaVe tO cHaRgE iT" b.s.? Im assuming it works somewhat differently, at least internally, compared to your standard battery but some people are saying they require special chargers and such.

When should you replace the stock suspension?

honestly brother, what mileage won't do, age will. replace em. you'll thank yourself. and they're so easy to do, too. I replaced mine two years ago with oem tokicos from a Land Cruiser and they are excellent. I love them
