I would do the same, but I just like to keep it as OEM as possible. Might help with resale if I ever choose to part ways. For those who may run into this in the future and care, the OEM screw is an M3 and 20mm in length. Simply went to Ace and got a stainless replacement. Works great!

Its the driveshaft. You need to lubricate it with grease. There are zerk fittings on the front and rear drive shaft. I recently lubricated mine with Mobil 1 synthetic grease. I guarantee this is your issue. I just had it and it would drive me nuts. Use this as a guide...

Thanks a lot for the advice. I've already ordered the poly steering rack bushings as they looked shredded a while ago. Also, the rear main seal is leaking so they are covered in oil too. I'll replace that first and see if anything changes.

Do you have a link to the bushings purchased? I'm trying to decide between oem, poly, and other aftermarket.

Alright I've done some reading on this and the LCA bushings sounds to be the culprit. I'll check the LCAs before ordering the parts.

Picked up an 00 limited with 212k for 6500 too. Its nice and has the central locker and rear e-locker. Had to fly and buy it in Atlanta since prices for 4runners in Colorado are outrageous. I've done things in it that I didn't know it could do. haha
