Did you do a brake job recently?

I'm in Groton...I can wrap my head around using the back of my hand. I'll give it a shot, if it snows like they are saying it's going to I will go do some donuts and check it out. If your close enough by I will keep you in mind when I eventually do my lift. Gotta pay off the wife's van first.

As far as when they switch to winter blend up here I've got no idea. Just got stationed up here in September, originally from TX, spent the last 6 years in southeast GA, didn't even know about winter blends til I got up here. I've read a lot about the whole warming up issue...I guess old habits...

Sounds like we might have to settle with the fact that our trucks just don't get great mpg.

Could be worse I get 11-13mpg consistently with no hints as to what's causing it. I've done everything with my limited knowledge on motors that I can. Only two cents I can throw your way is if you recently did your plugs, check the gap on them. I did mine recently and found that I had to adjust...

When I fill up I divide miles on my trip meter by number of gallons...if I remember off the top of my head my last tank was somewhere around 220 miles and filled up with 18-19 gallons. I don't trust the computer because right now it says I'm getting 16mpg.

You know I thought about that. I pulled the front wheels off and turned the rotors by hand, there was a rubbing sound as I turned them. I was able to turn them with no problem at all. Haven't got to the back tires yet. Should I not hear anything when I turn the rotors?

So before y'all chop my head off for not using the search feature know that I have for the last month or so. My newish to me 06 4runner (V6 121k) has only been getting 11-13 miles to a gallon. I have kept up with oil changes in the 6 months I've had it, replaced plugs put in a k&n intake...

Don't know of any "signs" that point to changing the timing belt other than the gut wrenching sound of your valves smacking the piston head!!

Just curious how long it took you to do all this? I'm looking at doing mine soon since i'm at 121k and get a slight squeal in the morning when it's cold. Need to know if I should plan on a whole day or just a half.

I don't think we are getting an answer on this one. Kind of curious to hear what the outcome was though.

Wouldn't waste my money or time with that mechanic anymore. I have seen some diy's floating around here somewhere. Seems like a weekend job for the not so mechanically inclined. If you know what you're doing, you could get it done in a day.
