I live in NH so I do not know if the road salt contributed to this or the metal just corroded & fused itself to the threads

My 2006 4Runner has metal valve stems on chrome wheels...its the air pressure sensor type. The metal caps on the valve stems were frozen on....I needed pliers to remove them. In the process I wiped the threads off of 1 stem & completely broke the top off another one. The caps are sturdier...

I would still change em...You have no idea how the truck was treated prior to your purchase...The diff might have been under water for who knows how long...& the synthetic will increase gas mileage too

I would change ALL the fluids to synthetic and get a fuel injector cleaning done....You have no idea what is in the vehicle & if its original fluids you wanna dump em anyway (cept transmission...don't even think of changing it...way too difficult & the system is supposed to be sealed anyway)

My 2006 has done the "bump" since day 1. I lubed it right away & every few months with Mobil 1 grease...Still bumps...Its a mechanical thing that no amount of grease will ever fix!

Yes Bill...You are correct...There are clamps under the tape...I realize it isn't pretty because I put the foam tape over the metal surface...but how many people will see it under the hood...I think its foolish to spend $300 on a "pretty" CAI when my design will work exactly the same. Thanks...

It wont fall of...& I really don't give a crap if you like it or not. $10 beats $250 & up...I don't have that kind of money & this will work just as good!

Thanks for adding the picture...as for engine heat I think at idle it might be a few degrees warmer but I also think the increase in air volume will counteract the heat...and as for on the highway enough air flows thru that heat wont be a factor. So for $7 and change I rid my truck of almost 2...

Thanks...I'll try all the tricks you guys mentioned. But...sometimes when your stuck & need the 4WD you cant move it to get it to engage...then what??? Thats why I bought a 4WD, to get me out of snow when the back wheels spin & you don't move an inch!!!

I tried that (taking foot off gass) & no help...in fact sitting at idle in my driveway it does the same thing....HELP!!!!!!! Should I bring it into dealer to have it checked out???
