I like the backcountry navigator as a program, although it is an extreme pain in my opinion to download the maps for even a reasonable sized area. Also compared to a gazetteer map and the garmin handheld it was missing a lot of trails and was sending me in weird places.

I have the viair 88p. It works fine although we tried to use it recently in a garage at about 0 degrees and it wasn't doing anything much....not sure if that's normal for a compressor like this.

I bought chains but hope I don't ever have to mess with them. I just got rear chains because I don't want to risk damaging the front. I think I have a small lift but it isn't much.

I have a garmin gps 64, I like it a lot. I compared it to backcountry navigator and gaia on a recent trip and it won out over both. It can be a pain to work with but not too bad when you get used to it (I assume most or all handheld units are the same in that respect).

If youre talking about a 2wd 4runner you can absolutely go offroad - my last trip i kept it in 2wd most of the time, and probably could have the entire time left it off. It wasn't anywhere extreme but it was off roading.
