Has anybody Line-X’d their exterior trim pieces? Mine are all faded to junk and considering getting it done. How do you like it? Pictures if you have them would be appreciated!
Did you remove the compressor? This is the only thing I am kind of pondering the necessity of? I have seen videos that do and that don't but the Factory Service Manual says to so I am questioning it.
Anyone know why the Factory Service Manual says to unbolt the compressor and move out of the way? Not sure I see the necessity in this and would rather save myself the headache if avoided
Do you happen to know what video? I found one of a guy doing it on a 2UZ-FE but on a Lexus. Is that the one you followed?
Any issue getting the timing right? That is the part I think I am the most nervous about.
Has anyone here attempted successfully to change their own timing belt and water pump? Thinking about trying to tackle this on my own and would love any suggestions that you may have to offer. I am currently running at 125k miles but no towing or off-roading and had to wait out the AZ summer heat.
Ahh! So maybe I did not compress enough? I have PB Blaster soaking right now so I will give it a little longer and then try to compress more than I had the first time around
When I had compressed it the first time, I did get any gap in the top hat but down on the seat of the strut. If I continue to compress will I see a gap at the top hat?
Spring compressors are a little dicey so I didn't want to compress more than needed.
Absolutely plan on using the spring compressor.
So what your saying is put the spring compressor on but don't compress it and hit it with the impact to get it free and then compress and remove fully?
Just didn't want to do that and impale myself
I do have an impact. Where would you suggest vicing the shaft since it would then be covered by the socket on the impact?
Sorry I am usually not this challenged lol but this one has gotten to me
So I picked up a set of 5100's from Craigslist this week that were already preloaded with springs but the springs look to be in bad shape so I am trying to swap them out but I can't get the top nut off as it keeps spinning with the shaft! :mad2:
Any suggestions?
Is anyone able to confirm the correct part number for front and rear 5100's for our 4th gens? I just picked up some used ones that stated for 4th gen but now I am questioning if they are the right ones.
