The sound does increase as the speed increase. However, I don't think it's the tires because the slight sound i hear (that i think might be because i am paranoid) seems mechanical... Trying to take it to the dealership today. I will let you know if they pinpoint a problem. :(

I see that there is the 2wd, 4wd, and 4wd-hi mode in the 04 4runner. can i switch from 2wd to 4wd anytime i am driving? is there a specific gear set (Park, neutra, drive) i have to be in? Also, is there a speed limit on the 4wd? and finally, how do i switch to 4wd-hi mode, and when do i use it?
