Hi,

interested in either the pioneer AVIC-D1 or D2.
Do I need a kit for it to be a perfect fit? If so, what kits?
Are there people who have already used it? How is it?

Thanks!

You buy from them and it screws up in a few months, you are probably stuck with it.

I personally have returned several high end items to costco and can vouch for their policy. No questions asked and every penny gets credited back to your card.

Ofcourse only buy from online if you have a store nearby & obviously you have to be a member.

Item I have had the longest that I returned: HP Printer, returned after 2 years, beat that !

I just got back from Pioneers winter meetings where I was told that the D-3 will not be out till March 07. But that price is about right.

Nice, so Costco was pre selling D3s ? I'm surprised their D2 price, $900 (including shipping) is cheaper than Crutchfield's price, $1199. If anyone is looking for this unit or any units for that matter Costco is your best bet. Wanna upgrade in 2 years? Just pull it out and return it!

I have a question for you guys.....Is the Pioneer unit that much better then Eclipse?

I saw the Eclipse 5435 or something selling for like $1029.00, which actually also had the ability to play DVDs.

I'm trying to figure out now which to buy the wife for Christmas.

The Eclipse is a nice unit. Has DVD playback which the D2 doesn't. The navigation is good, rerouting is quick, if you know the name or address of the place your going it's a great unit. The biggest complaint I've heard about the AVN5435 is the point of intrest search.

yeah I head the same thing about the POI search, but in reality, i never even use that function on my factory toyota navigation unit!

My wife just really wants a Nav unit in her grand cherokee, and i figured if the Eclipse is only like $200 more then the D2 and it has DVD play back...then we're all happy.

just was wondering if just speaking Navigation that the Alpine was better in any sence besides the POI search

Anyone find a link on Costco.com for the D3? I'd really like to pick it up if its under $1000.

Looks like they took a lot of navis off... if they had an avic z1 i'd whip it up in a flash

Z1 available at costco.com

I lied about picking it up but for those who are interested there you go Costco

I still can't really justify the cost, I'll just pick up a $500 handheld gps and keep backing up into stuff.

Edit: Gone from costco...
