Looking for a Good Shop Bellingham WA

Going to need rear shocks for sure, to start. Then we’ll talk about front struts, LBJ’s, etc, depending on $.

Looking for a Good Shop Bellingham WA

Does anybody in the Pacific Northwest know of a good 4Runner (3rd gen) shop where a dude can get some suspension work done and not break the bank? I know a shop in Bellingham that would probably do good work, but they are so expensive, prohibitively so. Any recommendations would be very...

‘98 Cargo Cover End Plate Broken - Left Side, Tan

Sorry to revive an old issue, but I’m trying to locate the plate that goes on the actual cargo cover (NOT the one that attaches to the moulding of the interior; the male part, not the female part). I’m looking specifically for the one on the left side. I had a little backing up accident in the...

Yeah that’s the route on which I appear to be going down. Thank you for replying so fast.

Do I Need A Special Rear Wiper?

‘98 SR5, rear wiper needs replacing. Difficult finding any CLEAR advice/instruction about whether I need a very particular wiper, as it has that bracket with 2 small screws that attaches it to the wiper arm, or if I can just get away with buying something “off the rack” and make it work. Can...

Heavy duty struts for rear hatch?

I highly recommend the Spiker Engineering Strongarm 6815 struts. These are the “heavy duty” struts that are stronger than the OEM replacements. I put these in and it lifts my 10-month-old grandson (20 lbs?) with no problem. Being that your ladder’s weight is spread across the height of the...

What Did You Do To Your 3rd Gen Today?

I don’t want to sound like I would ever doubt some video on YouTube, but I gotta say, I had doubts about the one about the clock fix, where the guy gets a soldering iron and rubs some of the contact points where the solder is supposedly cracked, and that’s the reason why your clock has stopped...

    Another Vibration Post

My first impression was wheel bearing. Check the left front.

What Did You Do To Your 3rd Gen Today?

Well, I took out the clock to try to reheat the solder on the back of the board to see if that jump-starts it again. I’m waiting on a soldering kit so I can give it a try on it. Did the spring trick first to see if that worked; it didn’t. Also installed a Blue Sea Systems USB dual charging...

Timmy the Toolman Party - August 7th

How was it? I’m up in the PNW, so driving down really wasn’t an option (also, I only remembered now, after the party).

    Random vibration in gas pedal

Can you be a little more specific? As in when does it vibrate? Is it upon acceleration or decel? High/low/idle speed? I’m trying to think about the series of connections from the pedal to the throttle body, or if anything’s making contact with the mechanism or the firewall. It’s odd though.

Done with my 4runner: lack of originality, room and HP.

I think every vehicle has its positives and negatives. The T4R is no exception. The 6-cyl is underpowered compared to, well, more powerful vehicles. The LR3, as well as other LR models, has…issues. Many issues. I’m sure you’re prepared (financially) for that. I don’t know which...

Looking for Shop, new to WA (Whidbey Island)

Shame you weren’t in the Bellingham area. My go-to guy is Steve Knowlton. He owns SK Auto on Iowa St. He likes Volkswagens, Audis, BMW’s, but he has a guy there that’s into 4Runners. I cannot speak highly enough of there honesty, knowledge and top-drawer workmanship. If you’re ever up here...
