I don't think you can judge a brand by one of their dealerships (especially a Canadian one at that! JK :p). Every manufacturer is going to have a percentage of bad dealerships, with some higher than others. Is there another dealership that you can take it to?

Another '03 V8 with the actuator leak here. First dealership just thought it was a seal leaking, replaced it twice, but kept leaking. Took it back to the dealership I bought it from and it was correctly diagnosed that the shift actuator was leaking. It was covered under my extended warranty...

I remember reading about another connector doing that, but the ICELink I have does not require it, and as far as I can tell, the ICELink Plus does not require it either.

I have the original ICELink, and no, it does not display text. I think it's more of a limitation of the original ICELink, and not the headunit.

The dealer might have used alcohol to clean it, that sounds familiar. As far as I know, there is only one plug, and I'm assuming they cleaned out both connectors. I'm sure if I wasn't under warranty they would have had no problem in ordering me a brand new panel.

I don't have the Aux-Pod, but rather the ICELink. It too continues to charge after the the ignition is turned off. The iPod will only charge until it is fully charged. You don't have to worry about running down your battery.
