If they're not seized, don't replace them. Especially if you have the OE ones. Just anti-sieze them.

Good luck, sawzall won't cut them out. Trust me. You're gonna need a grinder and cutoff disks. It's a pretty sketchy spot, too.

Question is, what happens to the center differential when this is done? Will it grenade? Can anyone shed any light on this? This is an idea. I wonder what risks are involved here... Would suck to damage the rig any more.

Yup! If one could source non-poly bushings for these, cut the old ones out and use upgraded hardware everywhere, they would be fantastic. I will absolutely be ordering a pair when they are back in stock, and will be doing a full upgrade on them. I will post a guide with parts list and what-not.

Jumping in on this bandwagon. 2004 SR5 V8, spent most of it's life in Quebec, then the past 4 years or so in Western Canada. I can tell you that virtually every component underneath had some serious surface rust. Literally everything has been a pain to come off, and requires a sparkle...

But was this to raise or lower the height? If you tried to raise it, of course you couldn't compress it enough. It only needs to come up about an inch to access the snap ring holding the spring perch.
