    4400NEX Pioneer

Thanks dudes. I went with the 1500NEX instead. I guess I'll have to live with less than state-of-the-art in my 21 year old Toyota. Oh NO. Anyway, appreciate the education.

    4400NEX Pioneer

Hi All, Looking to get rid of the trash JVC I have in my runner. I can get a reasonably good deal on a 4400NEX - but the Crutchfield website says it doesn't fit, however, the lower model 2400NEX does. Isn't a double DIN a double DIN? Anyone have any experience with this?

Help! Trying to diagnose swaying problem

Is the cabin swaying, or the car drifting? When my sway bar links were shot (bushings), my car at highway speeds would feel like it was drifting all over the road despite the wheel being held straight. If that's what's happening I'd look at your rear links and check your front links and make...

Replacing Valve Cover Gaskets - A True Write Up - **PICTURES**

If you're referring to the aluminum half moons at the end of the cams, I think most people don't replace them. As long as you remove them carefully and don't damage them - there shouldn't be a problem with cleaning and resealing, just be careful when you clean them that you use a soft brush, the...

    FN Wheels are BACK!!!!!!

I also pinged them on their "contact us" and haven't received a response. I don't think they're up to 100% yet.

    FN Wheels are BACK!!!!!!

Haha, if you're going to pick nits. I'm going to pick back at you. Normally a company that is getting pretty close to bankruptcy or other issues knows it's coming, and if they're still taking orders, it's because they want to hang on to some cash. It's not robbery - but it ain't ethical either...

Almost heartbroken nobody is interested in my 4Runner...

It's crazy to me how different the prices are depending on the market. It shouldn't surprise me, but it does. I bought my black 1998 Limited with 137K for $5500 - 4 years ago in October. Now - at 170K and an OME/Bilstein Lift, TBU, new plugs, wires, timing belt, and valve cover gaskets later...

Relocating to Portland OR Looking for pointers

Lol - thanks guys. I'm well aware of the political situation in Oregon - and when we took our trip out, we did see the homeless in downtown. Not overly concerned. Was mainly looking for info on pitfalls re: 20 year old truck in a place that does emissions testing, and potential...

Relocating to Portland OR Looking for pointers

Is it really that bad? I’ll probably in the Beaverton/Lake Oswego area... my wife is terrible about leaving stuff in her car.

    Intermittent Brake Fade

I believe the best approach is passenger rear - driver rear - passenger front, driver front. No idea on the booster. I'll let others sound off. I hope you check back in once you find a solution though and let us know what it was. Good luck

    Intermittent Brake Fade

I'd try a re-bleed as well though. I actually had the same exact issue after the Tundra upgrade. It certainly could be the booster failing or (according to what I've read) it also could be the master cylinder letting some fluid seep by. But in my case, I didn't have any problems before the TBU...

Relocating to Portland OR Looking for pointers

Lol Well - as a liberal progressive (and gun owning/clay shooting enthusiast!) - I'll probably fit right in. Not having lived in California, I'll stop myself from commenting on the situation, though I imagine it can be rough. I will say, that living in a bastion of conservative economic law...

Relocating to Portland OR Looking for pointers

Hey - looks like I’ll be moving in August. Just wanted to see if there’s anything I need to look out for with my car being inspected and etc in Oregon. It still has a cat and as far as I can tell - runs clean. Do I need to worry about salt/rust? Any other things to worry about?

    Dying at idle

There’s not a lot going on with an IAC valve. Has anyone tried to rebuild one?

    Dying at idle

So the stalling issue pre-dated my cleaning of the throttle body. And predated my replacement of the valve cover gaskets. I removed the IAC during the valve cover process and went to town on both the throttle body and the IAC - it's possible that it got more gunk in it somehow but I was pretty...
