The 3rd Gen All Questions Allowed Thread

I have a 1999 4runner SR5 with the non sport seats. Per the pictures of the driver's seat, anyone know what the toggle switch on the left front side does? Wires go from the switch to the flat brown vinyl bag pinned under the seat bottom. I've never seen this in the much more common sport...

What Did You Do To Your 3rd Gen Today?

Finished assembling a Frankenseat for the driver's side. Literally the best parts from five junkyard seats in various states of decay. I reinforced the foam with felt on problem areas (bolsters, tears, areas where metal would otherwise contact foam, etc.) and added a little extra foam to the...

3rd Gen T4R DIY Maintenance, Repair and Modification Videos

This was very helpful. Excellent video. I'd add a few notes: The wear on my clutch pedal assembly was so bad, I ended up having to replace the pedal and the pedal bracket above it. That bracket part is as follows: 55107-35050 - Support Sub Assembly Clutch pedal It was $97 through McGeorge...

What Did You Do To Your 3rd Gen Today?

Seats are gross Removed the fabric from a spare seat, pretreated/presoaked, and threw it in the washing machine on gentle (warm water, with no spin cycle). Prior to throwing it in the washer, I used a Bissell Spot Clean Pro on it twice. Despite what I thought was a thorough clean with the...

Programming Instructions for keyless entry remote?

Just want to thank everyone in this thread for all the advice. I have a 1999 SR5, and while it took many tries, I got it. To consolidate what some others have said, here were my errors that others can avoid: 1. User error in the sequence. I read the instructions, and then promptly made two...

Good stock chrome bumpers for my 99'?

This won't fix the cheapness of the aftermarket parts, but think about doing some preventative work by painting the backside or, even better, using something like POR-15. These bumpers rust from the inside out.

What Did You Do To Your 3rd Gen Today?

I swapped out those two stupid knobs on the inside right rear panel in the trunk area with ones that weren't half disintegrated nor nearly as discolored. Small change but satisfying. Also swapped out the horns with deeper-sounding Hella units so I no longer sound like a small Honda.

    WTB Third Gen Cupholder

That said, here's a 71k 2000 SR5 (tan interior) sitting in a wrecking yard in VA, which is the lowest mileage 3rd gen I've ever seen in a yard. It's far, but they might ship a small part like that if it's still available and you ask nicely: HTTP Status 400 – Bad Request

    WTB Third Gen Cupholder

These things are always broken in the junk yard (literally I've seen one intact out of dozens), and it's otherwise a part people don't discard on a working vehicle. The 3d print above might be your best option, plus they look a lot sturdier.
