Yup chased it with a die and put blue loctite on it. Also painted the tensioner bolt and so far seems to be holding fine. Should be good until I can get the part in.

I bet ya, that new part can sit till you say where in the fug did I put it before you need it.

I got tired of waiting for my more complete alternator rebuild kit to show up, so I got just the brushes from Autozone.
Pulled the alternator off, and the bearings sounded great. Took the cover off and then found that while the regulator and brushes came off easily, the screw holding them together was really stuck in place. I could probably have drilled it out, but decided to just wait for my more complete kit.
That arrived, I put the new regulator and brushes in, put it back ont he car, and yay, 250K alternator is good to go another 250K miles again (hopefully).
I stuck the bearings and extra brushes on the shelf in case it ever needs that.

Got a new friend for my 3rd Gen. Gotta love the license plate, sometimes DMV comes through in a good way.
I watched that truck on BAT, probably one of the cleanest 1st gens in the country. Nice buy! I'm sure she'll serve you well.

Indeed. I had popped in for a look at that one on BaT a couple times but wasn't following closely. Our man really bossed up and made his deal in the waning moments!

That looks like it'll great air flow. Are the extra holes for shocks?

Iirc the holes are something to do with the engine swap be had in this. Been a hot minute since I've seen the rig though so I might be wrong.

Thanks guys, I'm looking forward to doing a proper restoration on this truck. It needs a lot more work than one might think, given the photos and the selling price.

I know, it's on YotaTech, not our T4R forum, but the Classic T4R forum here is pretty dead, plus YT allows me to upload photos directly without using a 3rd party photo hosting site.
Well, today was a GREAT day!!
Not necessarily for my truck, the 99 4Runner, but for me! I started the truck, just to run the engine, and charge the battery. I managed to hoist myself, including my prosthetic leg into the driver's seat. No problem using my left leg, it's still completely organic, and worked the clutch nicely. Then, I used my prosthetic leg, the right one, to run the RPM up, as though I was driving. Even went from the gas, as though I was on the road driving normally, then jumped to the brake, as though it was an "OH *&%!!" moment. No trouble at all!
SO, next time, maybe Monday, I plan on backing up, and going forward, in my driveway. If that goes as well as I suspect it will, I'm going for a short drive around the housing development. All gravel roads, so I'll put it in 4WD, to ecercise the system.
I'm really excited to be learning to drive with a artificial leg, but I feel I'm making fast progress in that direction!

completed my first big-ish job since owning my truck, a little over 2 years now. Have done a bunch of little things since owning it, wheels and tires, end links, bushings, etc. Had it lifted recently and the (I'm pretty sure original) cv boots tore in unison a few days ago, as expected. Decided to swap in the trakmotiv extended cv's I've read about on here while I get around to eventually having the OEM pair rebuilt as a backup. After reading up on them coupled with the oreilly lifetime warranty (and being right around the corner from where I live) I went for it. Solo install was pretty smooth despite being in an open parking lot on a 100f day. Drove it to get a slurpee down the road and all seemed tight and smooth. Will give it a better test drive tomorrow

Yes, have 16" travel plus had to use long bottom shock mounts to maximize clearances when at full droop and tuck with said and what u c is the end result. trying to install the brackets/braces u c in the pic, the centers with be cut out after getting most of the welding done to help reduce warping the brackets. currently trying to figure out how to get them attached.

Trouble free. 2800# Resi-demo debris 1k# trailer to landfill. 800# Sacrete rear cargo area no trailer. 2600# boat to n from Rez. Chitty remote ramp closest to fish never busy for a reason. 4Lo Cntr diff locked dual lockers Patagonia MT's wasn't needed but I did. Kept me from getting a punch on mallcrawler card.
