    Lock Replacement 2nd Gen

My tailgate lock and driver side door lock on my 2nd Gen V6 are half dead, and, as of recently my ignition switch is acting up when starting. Seems like a good opportunity to pull all the locks out and replace them (and clean that ignition switch while I have everything open). Now, where -...

Interior (Dome) light trouble - 2nd Gen

My front interior light stopped working. Bulb is ok, all the contacts in the light unit have been cleaned and sanded, the fuse is ok. It was intermittent for a while, no matter if in "DOOR" or "ON" position. Now it doesn't work at all. I suspect its the wiring in the ceiling itself thats...

2nd Gen - high beams don't work! Relay?

Found the switch and cleaned it up - all good now. Thanks a lot for the help. Quite tricky to dig out the switch under all its plastic covers and bits and pieces. Steering wheel definitely has to come off in the 2nd gen.

2nd Gen - high beams don't work! Relay?

2nd Gen - high beams don't work! Relay?

This is the relevant wiring diagram from my manual, I think. Now the problem seems to be somewhere in the R-G connectors. The high beam indicator light does work, and so does the "flasher" function. The "DIMMER SW" must be the actual turn signal / lights control lever on the steering column...

2nd Gen - high beams don't work! Relay?

The high beams on my 2nd Gen 4R (1995 3.0 V6 manual) have become unreliable - they work when I pull the turn signal lever (flasher), but when I push the lever forward to activate the high beams, 50% of the time the lights just turn off completely. Rather irritating when driving at night! The...

    North Queensland, Australia

Hello, I'm a 4runner owner from tropical North Queensland, Australia. I drive a 2nd Gen (95) with the 3.0 V6 petrol engine, which is unfortunately very rare in this country as I'm starting to find out. It is a great offroad vehicle and very capable in 4WD. I don't really go offroad just for...
