Does this require removing the seat completely?

I'm curious to know if you figured out whether those green wires are the buzzer wires, because I'd like to disconnect mine. Unless there's a good reason to keep it connected… Thanks!

Ah, the forum ate my reply. Sometime I feel like I have the only rusty truck in Arizona. The theory with Chuck is he had fender flares at one point and it must've trapped moisture. Someday I'll dig in and start replacing the rusted body panels, when I've saved up for a nice paint job. But...

Thanks! He won't win any beauty contests (unless I were the judge) but he gets 26mpg on the highway and will crawl up any washed out forest service trail with the best of them!

WoodsRunner, thanks so much for posting this! My'86 totally has a busted passenger seat. Good to know it's a common problem with a simple fix. Fortunately, I volunteer at a bike co-op so this will be an easy and super cheap fix.
