FS: 1st gen 4runner project in Powhatan, VA

1988 Toyota 4runner DLX 4wd, 22re with 5-speed transmission, 276065 miles. This has been in my garage since early 2011 when I decided I was going to do a Chevy spring swap and some other stuff. I cut the rear springs off, pulled out most of the interior (most of which I still have) and...

Is it time for brake service?

Stuck e-brake, either the cable or the bell-cranks. For now you can hit them back into place with a hammer (pound on them until the adjustment screw bottoms out on the backing plate, both sides), but you'll need to either take them apart and clean them or replace them. Rock auto sells the kit...

    Suspension Yay or Nay

Wheelersoffroad.com has 4runner 5100s for 168 a pair and tundra 5100s for around 200. I have a set of the 4runner struts (D558) on their way to me from them now.

    Stripped O2 sensor bolt. Suggestions?

Vise grips is a good thought. A dremel would be really far down on my list of tools to try because of the likelihood of screwing up the threads. A nut splitter would achieve the same result with almost no chance of buggering up the threads.

    Stripped O2 sensor bolt. Suggestions?

If the pair of channel locks or the chisel (I'd use a cold chisel instead of a wood chisel) suggestion don't do it, I'd try either this: http://www.amazon.com/Irwin-Industrial-Tools-394001-Bolt-Grip/dp/B0000CCXVZ/ref=lp_2225074011_1_3?s=power-hand-tools&ie=UTF8&qid=1426613354&sr=1-3 Or a...

Yes, 265/75 Grabber At2s, followed by tundra front brakes and the tundra/lc coil lift with tundra 5100s. I'll probably do the deckplate mod pretty soon, and maybe the ISR mod. This will be a slow project though, since I don't have a ton of cash to throw at it all at once.

Full frame swap - Advice/input needed

Are all 3rd gen frames the same, or are there differences between auto/manual, 2wd/4wd, etc. frames? For example, would a 97 2wd 4cyl manual frame be a direct swap into a 2002 limited 4wd?

I've been lurking here for a little while soaking up some good info about 3rd gens and thought it was time to sign up. I bought my first 4runner (1988 DLX 5 spd) in 2004, and my second one on Sunday (2000 SR5 5 spd). I still have this one, but it languishes in my garage awaiting my attention...

    Name that switch!

It's the rear window lock-out switch. My '88 has the same set up.

    Bought a 4Runner cross-country driving home-what am I missing

Ha, you snaked that one out from under me. Fortunately for me I found a 5spd on this side of the country that I'm picking up on Sunday.
