I've been lurking here for a little while soaking up some good info about 3rd gens and thought it was time to sign up. I bought my first 4runner (1988 DLX 5 spd) in 2004, and my second one on Sunday (2000 SR5 5 spd).

I still have this one, but it languishes in my garage awaiting my attention to finish up the 63" Chevy spring swap I started almost 4 years ago (coincidentally, just before my first child was born; funny how that works).

Speaking of kids, I have two now and needed something with a little more leg-room and overall utility than my '93 BMW 325i or my 2003 Ranger FX4 Level II. So I sold the Ranger (it wasn't very practical for a family, but I already miss that truck) and after much searching found this guy on the Boston craigslist. I flew up stupid early last Sunday morning and drove it back down to central VA by that evening. Has some rust (duh), including a frame perf on the right side right next to the muffler which I'll be patching up, along with some other maintenance stuff that needs to be attended to, but $5500 (plus associated travel expenses, of course) for a 2000 v6 4wd 5 speed with 128k miles works for me.

My plan is to get the 1st gen back to running condition (weld in the new suspension, fix the fuel tank/lines issues, replace the battery), then I'm going to sell it to fund add-ons for the 3rd gen. Should be fun.:)

Yes, 265/75 Grabber At2s, followed by tundra front brakes and the tundra/lc coil lift with tundra 5100s. I'll probably do the deckplate mod pretty soon, and maybe the ISR mod. This will be a slow project though, since I don't have a ton of cash to throw at it all at once.
