Agreed! I bought my 2019 Limited 4x4 back in late March of 2020 when nobody was buying. Got it for $39k out-the-door. In Missouri, we pay taxes at the DMV when we title our vehicles. Kelly Blue Book is showing it's worth $43,880 Private Party. Crazy! I figure I could get at least $41k for it...
I asked a dealer in my area if they'd do 13% off of MSRP for a 2020 Limited. They said no. I was thinking about trying a few others. Only issue is that I'd probably be stuck with my current vehicle for quite a while, since I'm pretty sure no one is going to buy via Private Party anytime soon. I...
Outstanding work! That's more than 12% off of MSRP! A new record for a 2020! Would you mind posting a screenshot of your deal, so that others on this forum can use it as proof, if they're wanting to get the same deal?
You need to be at 10% off of MSRP for a 2020. Tell them that they can keep their "Total Not-So-Valuable Package." You'll never get this back in resale. I think the total MSRP is $52,971, correct? If so, your offer is $47,674, and then add doc fee and taxes.
Sure, this is purely a data-driven number. Let me explain further...
One advantage around buying a late model vehicle is the fact that there is data out there already around resale values, which means you'll know what the fair value of the vehicle truly is. There are many sites out there that...
I think your numbers look good. Like death and taxes, I do not think you'll be able to avoid the doc fee. You might want to find a dealer that has a lower doc fee. But on the other hand, if they'll do 20% off of MSRP, I'd probably just accept their fee and close the deal.
In terms of cash vs...
Your goal for a 2020 is 10% off of MSRP, with no more than $199 in dealer fees / doc fee. Taxes are extra, of course.
Goal for a new 2019 is around 18%-20% off of MSRP.
10% off MSRP for a 2020 is the target, with or without Costco pricing. Some dealers will do this deal, especially near the end of the month. Most will not.
Always be sure to see what others are paying before cutting a deal on any vehicle purchase. Knowledge is power. With knowledge and data, you'll be able to get the best deal possible.
Also, never let the dealer give you their number first. Never ask, "What's your bottom line dollar Mr. Dealer?"...
I simply do not understand this! Why, on God’s green earth, would a state that has already destroyed business prosperity continue to do things that drives the state directly into the ground? I’m sure Illinois dealers are none too pleased out about this. No question this will drive down sales...
