2004 4runner Sport V8-- Sluggish Transmission Downshift in to Severe Accelerator Jolt

Hello all, I've read the various posts on here about similar problems, and while I do notice the clunk sometimes when braking, this is my second 2004 4runner and from what I can gather they all do that, and I'm used to it. I just bought this truck 3 weeks ago and never noticed it during the...

Factory to Factory stereo upgrade help (JBL Owners)

This is a shameless bump. Just bought the unit on Ebay and I'm no closer to figuring out what/where to get the AUX wire for the P1803... I'll keep looking!

Factory to Factory stereo upgrade help (JBL Owners)

I am reviving this thread because I have scoured google and can't find the answer. Much like the OP I am going to buy a P1803 (86120-35340) to put in my 2004 4Runner with JBL Synth 10-speaker sound. What I am most interested in is the Sat and Aux. I know the Sat requires a $100 kit that plugs...

2004 4-Runner Sport... just got totaled. Recommend buying a 4thgen with 150k+ miles?

Just wanted to post an update! I found a nice black 2004 Sport with 136k miles from a private Craigslist buyer for $10k. I'm stoked. Took it to a mechanic today before heading to the bank to buy it, and here was his synopsis: Needs about $600 of work (new shoe/shocks in front, new tailpipe)...

2004 4-Runner Sport... just got totaled. Recommend buying a 4thgen with 150k+ miles?

Agreed. Problem with a road trip is the time commitment and the 'see it once before you buy.' I've heard too many horror stories where people fly or drive long distances and the car has something wrong with it. I think I found a 2004 Sport I buy on Thursday. I'll keep you posted. There is...

2004 4-Runner Sport... just got totaled. Recommend buying a 4thgen with 150k+ miles?

Yeah. I initially had it towed to a reputable auto body place and the adjustor was the one who went out and decided it would be salvage material. When I went to clean it out, at first glance one of the mechanics was like "they SALVAGED this?" Then he looked underneath and popped the hood and...

2004 4-Runner Sport... just got totaled. Recommend buying a 4thgen with 150k+ miles?

Yeah. That's not bad actually-- good work. The variation is seriously crazy. The other thing that sucks is that I don't know how some guy treated his 4runner for the first 100k-125k miles. He might have driven it like a complete idiot and while a mechanic can see superficial damage, I...

2004 4-Runner Sport... just got totaled. Recommend buying a 4thgen with 150k+ miles?

The other thing this whole process has made me realize is how many people bought an SR5 with 2WD... Makes me want to drive directly in to power lines whenever I find another one on the search list, and there are ALOT.

2004 4-Runner Sport... just got totaled. Recommend buying a 4thgen with 150k+ miles?

Yeah seriously. What sucks too is that my truck had 120k miles on it and was going STRONG. I begged my insurance company to just fix it but "policy is policy" and if the fix costs meet or exceed 80% of their estimated value, it's a total salvage. Great. OK-- 80k miles as an upper limit is...

2004 4-Runner Sport... just got totaled. Recommend buying a 4thgen with 150k+ miles?

Hello, A drugged up kid hit my 04 4runner Sport while it was parked on the street in front of my house and totaled it. Just got the insurance check and am trying to find a used 04/05 4runner to replace it with but damn, people do NOT take good care of their trucks. In your opinion, is it...

The Beast Meets Snow. Pirelli Scorpion ATR

Sorry, I mis spoke. Probably gonna go with the Scorpion ATR's. The Winter Carving don't come in 265/65/17 or any 265 for that matter... Thanks for your input, I really appreciate it. :-)

The Beast Meets Snow. Pirelli Scorpion ATR

Nice. It's not showing them in a size I think I can use though... I'm only seeing (for comparable sizes) the 235/65-17, 255/55-18, and 255/60-18. I have an 04 Sport with the stock Dunlap 265/65-17-- you upgrade your wheels as well? I might just stick with the ATR's if I can't figure these...

The Beast Meets Snow. Pirelli Scorpion ATR

Did you use the Scorpion ATR or Scorpion Ice and Snow? I'm debating between the two. MN/WI highway driving in heavy, heavy snow is no fun. :-)
