I got similar problem, like on your description on my LX470. Ended up with new O2 sensor (the one that before catalytic converter). Oxigen sensor has 4pin connector, 2 wires come from sensor itself, and 2 others from sensor heater. While sensor itself was good, the heater element failed...

I used to tow brick shaped 21' travel trailer and always notice mpg drop and frequent transmission downshifts with head wind. Solution is to slow down by 10 - 15 mph. T4R + Strong wind + Bad MPG = You chose wrong direction to drive ! :lookout:
