I've had this problem also. When it occurs for me it's usually during the first vehicle start after the tailgate has been opened and closed. I haven't noticed that weather has played a part in it. It doesn't bother me anymore since the camera is blocked by my tire swing out.

It's just wedged in there. It fits tight enough that it hasn't moved in months.

Not sure what OP did, but check out Front Panel Express. I think it took 10 days from placing the order to having it at my house.
