    Thought I'd follow this up, just in case anyone else has the same movement. In my case, it turned out that the LCA mounting bolts weren't torqued correctly -- they were far too loose. They should have been at 145-217 ft lbs, but were *nowhere near* that.

    Here's a video showing the left LCA in action on my '89. I don't know what the normal font-to-back range of motion is for the LCA (very little, I presume), but my gut tells me that the bushings are shot. Is that a safe bet?

    To get the pin to come out I just grabbed it with a set of needle nose pliers and pulled it right out. At the time the cable had snapped, so there was slack.

    Pull the pin In case anyone is wondering, you've got to yank out the pin from the pull rod, then you can rotate it freely. The pin that I mean is that small metal rod, flattened on the end which is inserted horizontally into the pull rod. Also worth noting is that the brake light in the dash...
