Noise from rear cargo door on 4th gen

The dealer ended up replacing the lock mechanism in the rear door. Apparently, it had worn out due to repeated slamming. They even wanted to replace the computer (??) in the rear door but in the end said that it wasn't necessary since the sound went away.

Parking brakes on 4th gen 4Runners

In my case, I put the tranny in neutral (while stepping on the brake pedal of course), pushed in on the parking brake, released the brake pedal and the whole vehicle started rolling backwards with very minimal resistance. Don't know if the cable needs to be adjusted.

Parking brakes on 4th gen 4Runners

Thanks for the help. I was trying to figure out if the cable needed to be adjusted or something along that line. I do notice that the rear disc groans a lot if you slowly start to let the brake off, especially when going from reverse to drive.

Parking brakes on 4th gen 4Runners

I recently bought a used 2005 4Runner and discovered that the parking (emergency) brake doesn't work when parked uphill at roughly a 20% grade. A mechanic friend of mine told me that the rear drum mechanism for the emergency brake is really small and it only works in a forward direction because...

Noise from rear cargo door on 4th gen

Yeah, I double and triple checked it. The sound is coming from the door itself and I'm suspecting that it may be a faulty latch. If I go outside and thump the rear door below the license plate it sounds like the door is marginally loose at the latch. This is with the license plate removed...

Noise from rear cargo door on 4th gen

Thanks. This sound is an actual clunking or rattling sound coming from the inside or bottom area of the rear door. Just out of curiosity, do the round rubber bumpers on the middle part of the door make an indentation in the paint? I know that the left rear area was involved in a minor...

Noise from rear cargo door on 4th gen

Thanks to all who answered my previous post. Another problem that I'm having with my '05 4Runner is with this annoying rattling sound that is coming from the rear cargo door. It sounds like it's inside of it, as if something might be loose or contacting the body or it could be near the latch...

    Fuel door cover problem

The door is riveted to the body so that's what makes it a little harder to repair.

    Fuel door cover problem

You know, I just was thinking about that while looking at the pics. I guess the fix to that would be bending the bent pin part back into shape. Taking it to a body shop would be too costly for something that silly.

    Fuel door cover problem

Thanks. Hmmm...I know that the back left corner had a minor collision at one time but I don't see how that would have affected the fuel door area.

    Fuel door cover problem

I just picked up a used '05 SR5 4WD and when I went to fill up at the local gas station, I noticed a problem with the fuel door. It only opens about an inch and to fully open it I have to force it back. As you can see in the pics, the pivot rod is bent and the back (left side) of the fuel door...
