Passing My 02's Final Emissions Test - An Odyssey

TLDR: Over the past 4 months I've battled a variety of CELs in order to pass my final emissions test here in GA (>25 years are exempt). In the end, it was a combination of my charcoal canister and Cataclean that got me to a spot where I could pass. More detailed: Like many, I've fought...

    3rd Gen 4Runner Lift Information and FAQ's

I hear mixed feelings on using the stock front springs, will preloading them ride poorly? I’m not opposed to replacing them, and would buy them pre assembled anyway to save that step.

    3rd Gen 4Runner Lift Information and FAQ's

Seems this thread is alive and kicking so would like y'all's guidance: 2002 4runner 4WD, suspension is all original and ready for replacement. 9K smittybilt winch on a hidden mount in front (stock bumper); wood (2x6) sleeping platform in the back. Tires one size up from stock. Looking to...

    Heated Seat Wiring-Under Dash Fuses

Thanks! Yeah now that it’s about to hit 80 every day here it’s poor timing [emoji1787] but still feels good on just the back setting.

    Heated Seat Wiring-Under Dash Fuses

Well it appears I got this solved! Heaters are in and working. Of the three empty fuses, two were hot and one was switched. I used the connnector that came with the kit and added two fuses for the power to each heater, then I used an Add-a-circuit for the two green switch wires. Grounded...

    Heated Seat Wiring-Under Dash Fuses

Thanks- appreciate the insight. I should be able to test for voltage from fuse prong to ground bolt to see if they are in use, I think? Another question- if I run my power (red wires) to a switched circuit (ignition only), could I just tie my “switched” (green) wire to it as well? My harness...

    Heated Seat Wiring-Under Dash Fuses

Hi all-I’m adding heated seats to my 02 and working on the wiring (power, switched, and ground). I have a few empty fuse slots in the fuse panel under the dash on the driver side, which I assume are “hot” and I can use my add-a-fuse there. Does anyone know if these would be “always on” or...

    JZiggy's storage/camping/sleeping platform

I just came across this thread recently and the use of the pins/dowels to hold pieces in place inspired me to do the same on a section of my build. It has really helped hold everything in place and cut down on noise!

Thanks for hosting J - this was a ton of fun. Great to meet everyone and see everyone’s admittedly much cooler rigs! Lots of inspiration for my stock ‘02.

Awesome deals for OEM parts - March 2022

This was great - ordered a bunch of maint stuff, an alternator, plus random clips/body fasteners to replace the ones I've lost/broken over the years.

Timing Belt Failure <10k after replacement

Well the new belt is in and she’s back running. I also had acquired a stretch of hose so I was able to loop my trans cooler back in and run both the radiator and external, since I replaced the radiator last year. I rechecked everything and all the torques were still spot on. Here’s to hoping...

Timing Belt Failure <10k after replacement

The new belt is on and went way easier than last time. Maybe it was just a bad belt.

Timing Belt Failure <10k after replacement

Yep good point. I bought one of the kits off eBay that was linked multiple times around here and claimed OEM parts. Looking at the part number on the belt, it does have Toyota markings but appears to be an older part number (13568-62050). I’ve got a new belt with the latest YZZ03 part...
