4runner owner, Highlander Limited Platinum v Acadia Denali questions

Good choice, going from working at GM service to Toyota sales, you made THE right choice.

Knock Knock, Whos there? (Need help for the response)

If it's a bearing, possible to replace just the bearings (with the engine in the truck) provided the journals aren't too damaged?

Knock Knock, Whos there? (Need help for the response)

Sadly, this isn't a joke but.... Here's what happened. Was driving on the highway - oil pressure light started flashing, started to get a really bad knock. Pulled over, checked oil level. Was like a quart low, I added a quart and let it cool down a bit. Started to knock a block away from my...

How patient were you when you were tying to find your 4Runner?

Since I was ready to buy, to when I finally bought mine, it must have been a month or so. I had looked at a dozen, had leads on at least 5 more that got away. My advice to you is seriously scan craigslist all day and be ready to hit the door within an hour of the posting. I lost out on 3 very...

Received this quote from my local shop today. Seem reasonable?

Just a quick thought - see if they'll drop those part prices. There was a heated discussion in here I see about parts at cost and mark up. The thing is, if they're equipped properly (relationship wise) the prices that we can get on the internet from Toytec are already marked up. Therefore them...

    Tool set

As much as I may get bashed for saying this. Harbor Freight aren't complete garbage. You have to read the reviews of what you buy, but I have used many of their tools and haven't had problems. Even their torque wrenches are accurate.

    Hertz 5th Gen - missed my 3rd

New cars in general just don't have that same driving feel or character as the older cars. Nothing new compares to my 80's MR2's and I have yet to drive anything that feels like the 4Runner. New cars all feel oddly similar to be honest, all of the assists and everything just make it seem boring...

    SnowedIn Build thread

Oh. I meant the whole truck doesn't look repainted. The bumpers have been, as they were chrome on the limiteds for '98. Yeah I don't care either. Just doesn't look like it's been repainted. Either way the body is in good shape. Need some mechanic refreshing though, nothing major. First order of...

New Rims and Tires Ordered from tire rack as of 02/12/2015. I ordered Wrangler Duratracs in 265/70/16's just because I'm not going to a 3 inch lift yet, and I think those would still look okay once I do lift. In terms of rims I got American Racing Bajas in black, they're 96.00 each right now...

    Budget 3rd gen lift?

Haven't personally seen bad things about Rough Country. Few of my friends have them and they've been good. However Toytec also has 3 inch lifts around the same price. They also have an option without spacers. They are a little bit more pricey, but definitely good to look into. Also - a somewhat...

    What do you guys think?

The price definitely seems high. You can find a similar one for 3k if you wait for the right truck. They definitely roll around. You might be waiting a while, but this truck is very high. At that price and mileage I'd expect full service history. I was seeing 00' Limiteds with rear lockers full...

Does Toyota really replace some things for free?

I work for a GM dealership, and we offer the same thing. Even in this ad, it reads that it's a replacement part. So you'd have to buy the part, have it installed and then you are covered by the warranty. So it really isn't for free as the warranty is factored in by corporate/dealership...

How many miles on your 4runner?

Just over 182,500 now. Just bought it last week. Put about 300 miles on it already. Loving it so far, now to catch up on maintenance and tires. Then looking at taking care of the small things.
