    Paint Issues

A complete respray in a different color will cost you big bucks. It's a rediculous amount of work to change the color of a car. Basically, the entire truck will need to be disassembled (hood, fenders, bumpers, and the engine removed to paint all the jambs)

Need Wire Harness Repair Manual for 2011

Not sure what the item on the right is (I'm guessing it's for heated seats?), but Toyota doesn't sell hardly any plugs for their cars. Your best bet might be a trip to the junkyard.

Hypothetically stripping paint w/ brake fluid

Are you talking about the blacked out center/lower section of the bumper? I think you would be much better off painting the parts satin black. Brake fluid will damage paint, but I don't think it will work as a paint stripper.

Don't know if I've ever heard of this, but I'm not a mechanic...unless you have a couple wires touching/crossing each other.

Buying a "new" hail damaged 4runner?

Ukie, a lot of insurance companies write a lowball estimate for hail damage initially, because a high percentage of people never even get the dents fixed. Once the car goes in for repairs, the shop does a supplement to the insurance company for the full amount.

Buying a "new" hail damaged 4runner?

Toyota's stance on paintless dent repair is that they do NOT recommend it. My manager went to some Toyota training a while back, and one of the things they talked about was PDR. They had a car there with some small hail dents/door dings, and a PDR tech who worked them out in front of everyone...

Sounds like you just need a good tune up and some general maintenance. You might have brake line starting to rust through, or maybe a rear brake cylinder leaking.

    Bumper Cover Repair

#9 in Harper 7's picture is a metal bracket that bolts to #19. They are upper bumper supports. If you are looking for the plastic deflectors, they are #15 and #16 in this picture...

5th Gen amp install with OE non-JBL HU

I want to install an amp and sub in my '11 SR5. I'm assuming there are no RCA preouts on the back of my HU, so how do I hook up an amp? It's been quite a while since I've played around with aftermarket systems, and I've always used an aftermarket HU and I'm not sure how to get the signal from...

Anyone else with BP notice tiny little rust speckles in the paint?

I agree with the rail dust comments. Every car in every color has it, but it is much more noticeable on lighter colors.

    Official Carnage Pics Thread

If you have it fixed at a reputable shop by a good tech, there is no reason to worry about having problems down the road with it. To put it bluntly, most people are scared of driving a car that has been in an accident because of ignorance. They hear a horror story or two about a car that was...

    Door squeak

I've had the same problem on my '11 SR5 the last few weeks. I haven't had a chance to check it out yet either, but I might this weekend.

    Spot paint repair advice request

IMO, the first option is your best bet. It is pretty much impossible to paint just the area just highlighted in red...it's just too small of a space. If you have a spot repair done by a decent painter using good products, it will last without peeling. I also do body work for a living and I've...
