I've seen a set in person on a customer's truck and I can confirm that they're really well made, and customizable which tends to be a sticking point with some people not liking one knob over another. These can look just the way you want with a good grip feel as an added bonus.

My take is that running the motor at higher RPM won't affect the motor really in any noticeable way, provided there are no cooling issues. Starting in 3rd and letting the transmission work its way down in gears as you go slower at the top will make the transmission and the converter work harder...

I think the best way that I can describe it is that the material is thicker than the stock flaps, but it comes as a flat piece whereas the stock flaps are molded more and stick out more due to their design. Depending on your alignment you might clear these flaps. I do with stock offset and 285s.
