Quick pull to one side while hard braking

I appreciate the replies. Both calipers are new. It has new rear axle seals, as well. I'll check the drum adjustment and see if I can get someone to look at the front of the truck while I'm stopping.

Quick pull to one side while hard braking

My 1998 runner does a quick pull to one side when braking hard. Lower control arm bushings or something else? Thanks

    Will a steering wheel from a '94 fit on a '98? Thanks

    Diagnose steering issue

I've got a '98 Limited 2wd 197,000 miles. There's some play in the steering. The truck tends to wander down the road. There's a shimmy when I brake hard, but the brakes are new so I don't think I've got a warped rotor problem. How do I diagnose steering components? Thanks, Matt

    ABS light on

I would think so, too. I did just like the vid and got a code. I used the second link to clear the ABS light. I'm sorry, but you've exhausted my knowledge on the topic. I have no idea what would make the other lights flash. When you jumpered the connections, did you look at the schematic in...

    ABS light on

Here's how I pulled the ABS code. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IZLpQZf2oWk Similar, but a little different: MR2 ABS error code check How-To

    ABS light on

How did you find that there are no codes? I *think* there has to be a code if the light is on.

    Soft brake pedal

I think I won. I bought an ABS pump from a junk yard. I installed it this morning and did all the associated work. My wife, who is real particular about brakes, said they are perfect. What an ordeal! I'm taking next weekend off (from car work (unless something breaks)). I'll probably do...

    Questioning brake bleed order

I haven't taken it yet. I'm stubborn. Still trying things. I'll post back on that thread as I try things. I'm planning on putting the ABS pump on tomorrow morning. This was my original point. RR, LR, RF, LF is *not* furthest to closest in terms of length of brake line run, but it is the...

    Questioning brake bleed order

For starters, I'm talking about a 1998 2WD with 4 wheel ABS. I don't know about other models or factors. I've been bleeding the brakes on this truck 1) Passenger rear, 2) Driver rear, 3) Passenger front, 4) Driver front. The theory here is that it's longest run first, continuing to shortest...

    Soft brake pedal

I haven't counted the clicks, but I've been very careful with them. I pulled the drums, cleaned them, put them back on, over adjusted them, pulled the drums to under adjust, and re-adjusted with the e-brake handle. E-brake has a real good feel and works well. I'm very certain this is a...

    Soft brake pedal

Are you asking me? I never changed the pads in this truck. I've only owned it a couple of weeks. However, I have now had the entire hydraulic system open. I've changed the front soft lines, put new rotors on it, and replaced the master cylinder (twice). I've tested the booster to the best...

    Soft brake pedal

Explain that to me. How could that cause the pedal to sink to the floor? There's not fluid in that at all, right?

    Soft brake pedal

Well, I've put another new master cylinder in it. This time ordered from Rock Auto. The problem persists. I think it's about to go to the Toyota dealership.
