to replace the bushings, I did end up unscrewing the linkage underneath the truck. It was easy. And just unplug the white harness after unscrewing the 4 Phillips head screws and 4 10mm screws ( the 1 socket I didn't have). So much easier to replace the bushings with the shifter out of the truck...

shifter bushing replacement I have a 2000 2wd SR5. I thought I read that their are 2 bushings with 2wd, and 4 with 4wd. Has anyone replaced shifter bushings on a 2wd? Was it necessary to go under the truck and disconnect the linkage as I've seen elsewhere in this forum?
