What size are stock SR5 brake rotors?

I'm looking to be replacing my rotors with new stock-sized rotors from RockAuto but they have two different sized brake rotors listed.... 297mm and 319mm. I have a 1999 4Runner SR5 3.4L. If anyone else has decided to just replace their warped rotors instead of upgrading to the tundra brakes please let me know which size would fit for me. I've already gone to a local dealer with my VIN and they said I'd have to take my current rotors off and measure them to find which is my correct size.

Stock size is TOO SMALL. Do the Tundra upgrade. It's not expensive and well worth the money. It'll pay for itself by you not having to keep replacing your rotors.

That said, neither of the sizes you posted sound right to me but if you have a 16" wheel, you would go with the large option. If you have a 15" wheel, you would go with the smaller one. But seriously consider the Tundra upgrade before you buy anything. It can be done for about $250 with all new/reman parts.

This is what I would do. There is not any reason to not do it, unless you are on a really tight budget. I will be doing the Tundra brake upgrade when it is time to do brakes on my T4R.

First off, thanks for the quick responses guys, couldn't have asked for better from the forum.

I have 16" wheels, so I was leaning towards the larger of the two sizes. And if its the wrong size i could send it back i guess :eyebrows:. I've very seriously considered the tundra upgrade and would definitely pull the trigger on it in a heartbeat but I have the stock split-3 rims... so the new wheels that are required to fit the tundra calipers would quickly kill my budget :mad2:

There are 2 size Tundra rotors; 199mm S13WE, which will fit a 16" rim; and a 231mm S13WL which you will need a larger size rim. He mentions this in the video. You might have to trim the heat shield a little bit for the larger calipers to fit.

There are two Tundra CALIPER choices. Rotors for each caliper are the same. The 199mm and 231mm is a reference to the dimension of the pad that fits in the caliper. There are 16" wheels that fit over either caliper choice - there are plenty of 1st gen Tundras out there with 16" factory wheels... The "231" calipers often touch near the hub side of the wheels, not at the outside.

The Tundra rotors are the same diameter but thicker than the 16" wheel brakes for the 4Runner.

I just did the tundra s13wl upgrade. I love it . Just for your guys information my 16 inch stock rims worked without any modifications to the rims . I need to know what kind of brake pads would I need in the future . Does anyone know the part number for them thank you

just a bit of warning however, the 16 inch "spare" tire wheel will not fit over the 231 tundra calipers. ( if the spare is the standard black solid rim with a bunch of holes) I had to switch my spare to a 5 star, to match the rest, so I would have a spare that fits., otherwise, say you get a flat on the front, you have to take a rear wheel and put it up front and then put the spare on the back. At least that was my case. I had heard about that, so when I did my tundra upgrade, I checked and sure enough the spare did not fit over the big calipers.


Or you can run with spacers.


Also, just because you car has 16 inch wheels, it might not have left the factory that way. I saw a 4 runner with 16 inch 5 stars, and the door jamb said 15 inch wheels

Almost all 3rd gens say 15" wheels on the door jamb, that's no indication of the actual factory configuration. A VIN check is needed.

I have a 16" aluminum Tundra wheel as a spare now, just for the front caliper clearance...

If you're looking for a set up, I will be replacing my stock brake setup with TUNDRA brakes. Bought the stock calipers 2 years ago. I'll send you pictures if you're interested. Let me know.
