Update: Turned out to be the valve cover gasket. Dealer replaced both and broke six bolts in the process. Also claimed timing cover gasket was leaking. In typical dealer fashion, the total was just shy of $1,300.00.....

Truthfully, I'm not fully convinced it's the ps pump leaking. I'ts not making any noises, not loosing any fluid through the reservoir, and no difficulty in steering. I also asked the service rep if the tech thought the pump was leaking and they weren't convinced it was either. So I'll have to...

Thanks for the reply, but all the hose connections were dry. I took it to the local Toyota dealer today and there were unable to determine the source of the leak and could not duplicate it. They just cleaned it up and said to keep an eye on it. So I'm back to square one :(

So I just had new Centric Calipers, OEM pads, and 5th gen OEM rotors installed on my 08. I noticed the pedal travels much further to the floor before the brakes grab now. Has anyone else experienced this after the swap? I'm guessing I either need to give them some time to bed, or my mechanic...

I believe you can keep it in 4HI all the time as long as you don't engage the central transfer case lock (button to the left of the steering wheel). The transfer case lock should only be used in reduced traction situations.

If you really dislike the AWD, I think it would be possible to convert to the V6 2WD/4WD system. You would need the VF4AM T-Case, the V6 front diff with the ADD unit, VF4AM 4WD control unit, and the VF4AM 4WD switch. That should be it in terms of parts. Now you will have to add the missing...
