My buddy welded mine on for me and is a very knowledgeable mechanic. He thinks it takes a litre of gear oil, so that's what we put in it. Seems to be working well with no metal flakes. It sure is a pain to fill up though! Talk about a bad design. The track bar is now in the way.

It just pops off! Just be very careful. The new one will just snap back in. You should be able to do it just by using your hands. I pushed the mirror as far as it could pivot horizontally then I just pulled it off. That worked for me.

Hey! My old post from two years ago! Just use a flat screwdriver and pry the cover off. It should pop off. Just don't use too much force at once. I put loctite on the bolts and it's been working great ever since.
