is your carrier aluminium or steel? hopping to avoid a trailer as space is limited.

I know a single carrier hitch can be used, I was hopping someone had real world experience using a dual cycle carrier on a V8 hitch. I was hoping a trailer wouldn't be needed for 2 260lbs dirt bikes.
