Crank no start no check engine light no tach bounce on crank

Yeah, no. Not for a 2002 3.4L. I just got done putting everything back together after resealing the pan and oil pump (thanks to Tim for the videos!) and she wouldn't start. She would crank and crank and wouldn't fire. So I thought I messed up timing. So I pulled just the timing cover. She...

    pulling the front diff

Arise from the dead! Arise ye old diff thread! All good tips and I watched Tim's videos a few times. I have a couple of tips for a 2001-2002 which is different in a few small ways. 1. Regarding connections: Do NOT disconnect anything in the engine bay. Disconnect the electrical and vacuum...

    bad software/ECU ground

From the Circuit Diagram that looks like the COR (Circuit Open Relay). It's probably bad. But weird that it works intermittently like that.

Fixed my P0440 Evap code too! 2002 SR5 4x4 - COMPLETE FUEL AND EVAP PARTS LISTS

One click is fine. Do NOT go further. This is for ALL cars. NEVER EVER overfill for this very reason. I have ahd my 4Runner since new and never had an issue with a flooded charcoal canister. But I only go to 1 click of the pump.

Fixed my P0440 Evap code too! 2002 SR5 4x4 - COMPLETE FUEL AND EVAP PARTS LISTS

Glad this has helped people. Still no codes! I've driven her 290k miles and counting (minus a couple of dozen miles from when she was new at the dealership before I bought her). Everything still works! Legendary vehicles.

Fixed my P0440 Evap code too! 2002 SR5 4x4 - COMPLETE FUEL AND EVAP PARTS LISTS

Cool, you could be right that it was the canister...after 20 years, I decided, it's just not worth figuring it out. Everything was suspect. Can you post the alternate part numbers for the canister? It helps people out. I did not find any other part number for 2001-2002 and it's supposed to...

Fixed my P0440 Evap code too! 2002 SR5 4x4 - COMPLETE FUEL AND EVAP PARTS LISTS

I modified the title a bit, made it a bit more in-line with what I posted. On the gas fill-up popping issue...my 4Runner has done this for 20 years. I've owned the car from when it was new. This is NORMAL. There have been (very rare) gas stations that I have had to just give up trying to...

Fixed my P0440 Evap code too! 2002 SR5 4x4 - COMPLETE FUEL AND EVAP PARTS LISTS

No problem guys! Glad it can help! That evap code never has come back and I get a satisfying whoosh sound when I open the gas cap now. On the issue of the sending unit, that unit burns out at about 200k miles. I replaced mine in the tank and that was the issue. However, while you've got the...

    Rear Hatch Strut Options

ABS not good for hot environments? Maybe an engine bay, but for hatch struts? PLA is way worse for hot environments. Low melting point.

Why is my removed OEM front strut longer than my new OEM front strut?

Yes, you need to put the spring on. I think I had the same thought when I swapped my OEMs and it just wasn't extended as far. Why is the upper bearing installed on the new ones without the spring?

Fixed my P0440 Evap code too! 2002 SR5 4x4 - COMPLETE FUEL AND EVAP PARTS LISTS

Part 3! Totals! I spent: $421.38 + $569.30 = $990.68 + shipping. I should have probably spent: $341.78 + $347.45 = $689.23 Well, all new parts. Should make her reliable for a bunch of years, I hope. Tips on working on the gas tank. Remove the spare tire. Put the rear up on jack stands...

Fixed my P0440 Evap code too! 2002 SR5 4x4 - COMPLETE FUEL AND EVAP PARTS LISTS

Part 2! So, next I was going to deal with really the only other two areas under the car that would cause an evap leak. The charcoal cannister and its mess of hoses. The filler pipe and its connections. Parts for the fuel fill tube and charcoal canister: Filler Cap 77300-53010 1 $21.45 <-...

Fixed my P0440 Evap code too! 2002 SR5 4x4 - COMPLETE FUEL AND EVAP PARTS LISTS

P0440 Fixed! I want to start off saying the thread above is great and has a ton of info to get down and dirty with the evap system. I had the same code that would come and go. I would clear it and sometimes it would come back in a week...sometimes months later. I was putting it off and...
