$3,400 later I replaced the coolant temp sensor and put in 91 fuel, no stalls yet. Figured out that the rear window/tailgate wouldn't open because the windshield wiper wasn't completely stowed up. Put in the proper coolant instead of the piss colored stuff! Working on the drums, wheel bearings...

So seller wont go lower than $3,400, I have until tomorrow to decide... lol.

Mechanic got back to me and says biggest things are rear drum brakes and the wheel bearings and seals in the front have play. He said something like $4,200 in repairs, but I don't think those things are outside of my wheelhouse. I've done drums before. I was more worried about the head gasket...

Yeah I was glad to see that on the Carfax. So the HG was done in 97, that's no guarantee that it couldn't leak again, right? I'm suppose to hear from the mechanic today but it would a big job.

Someone in Colorado is selling this 1994 3.0L v6 4x4 4Runner with 220k miles for $4.2k on Facebook. Looks like it grew up in California, 6 owners, no accidents. Timing belt replaced 98k. Head gasket recall was done in 1997. Failed emissions inspection in California on 05/17/2023. I couldn't...
