Alpine HU in dash, replacing the stock

I installed an older alpine unit in my 04. I was planning on starting a thread w/ pics because it was hard for me to find any info/pics of installs. I will just add onto this one and take some pics later. I've installed two kits: 1st-was the Metra kit (Metra usually has the best quality & fit)...

4th Gen Seat not as comfortable you wish? (Easy mod)

I have an SR-5 with manual seats. I was wandering too if people thought that the leather seats were more comfortable. Anyone spent extended time in both? For those that thing the washers couldn't make a difference. Adjust the front of your seat as close as you can to the floor. As you move it...

4th Gen Seat not as comfortable you wish? (Easy mod)

Before I did this I used to think it was the bolsters, and they could still be better. But I was amazed at how much relief it gave just to have my thighs supported. I going to see if there isn't a way to bend the bolsters up. We used to do something like that on my nissan 240sx. Depends on how...

4th Gen Seat not as comfortable you wish? (Easy mod)

I figured I wasn't the first to think of this, just surprised I had never seen anyone write anything about this. I read quite a bit on here.

4th Gen Seat not as comfortable you wish? (Easy mod)

I think most people agree that it simply doesn't adjust enough. I put in more washers than I needed to so that I could still have some adjustment both ways. Jason

4th Gen Seat not as comfortable you wish? (Easy mod)

This is incredibly simple and I'm surprised that I haven't seen anyone post anything about it. Anyway the quick and dirty: By adding washers under the front floor mounts for the seats, it tilts the seat back. This gives you more support under the front of your legs. It takes away the feeling...

    Neutral on stop?

I guess im the only one that has ever heard this is bad for the tranny? They have obviously designed our truck (and most other cars on the road) to come to frequent stops while in drive. However they probably didnt foucs that much attention to constantly shifting to N. I dont have any facts to...

Solar power option on new house - what's your opinion?

A big factor in that decision for me would be what percentage of the the overall cost is this. 100k house = probably wouldn't do any "upgrades" 500k house = probably would do everything.

Lets face it....the 4th gen is starting to age

Care to elaborate? After i got the est. I called around to a couple other places also a few others here on the forum paid about the same price. Also couldn't find anyone on the forum that had replaced the actuator themselves, so i wasn't comfortable trying to take on something like this...

Lets face it....the 4th gen is starting to age

When switching from 2hi to 4 hi (turning the knob), nothing would happen. Both the green 4hi light and the orange diff lock lights would blink. Dealer replaced the actuator, which required dropping the transfer case. Part was 1100 and labor was 2000. So that was 3100 w/o taxes (3286 w/), and...

Lets face it....the 4th gen is starting to age

2004 - 75,000 miles Had to have (1) front and (1) rear frozen brake caliper relplaced. The big one, I just had to have my 4wd accuator replaced...... a whopping $2,700. I bought the Runner because of the reliability but not real happy after the 4wd acc. problem. Hopefully it was an isolated...

No snow chains on all four wheels?

I've been up in the mountains above Gatlinburg many times. Every time hoping to get a large snow fall to see what it would be like. But in the back of my mind, I would have been very nervous had it happened. So after you put the chains on all (4) wheels you didn't have any problems at all going...
