Trans filter and shift solenoids. Check engine light tripped 3-4 days ago. Got them and the filter for $96 on Amazon as opposed to $365 at the local chain store. Was ready to put on a scuba suit and dive in when I realized that theres a DRAIN PLUG! What a concept! 1st time I've pulled a...
I saw this thread last week and thinking back on the unscheduled 3 & 1/2 360's that I did at 55 mph on the way to work one morning last winter thought I'd give this a try. Bought one of nissnh's mirrors for a good price and I've gotta say its in great shape and he couldn't have shipped any...
I was lucky. The CEL came on when I was test driving it. BOOM! Another $600 off. $80 fuel injector and 1 1/2 worth of work and it was fine. Had a nasty vibration that I thought was tied to the FI but it turned out to be a crappy wheel balance job. Took it to Les Schwab and $60 later that was...

The Throttle Position Sensor was the cause of my P0171 though I didn't notice any pinging.
Its fairly easy to test with a multimeter though I'd look at the MAF and your vacuum lines 1st.
98 SR5 121,000 miles. They were asking $4500 and I had them down to 4K when the CEL came on. BOOM HEADSHOT! Ended up at $3600. It turned out to be a bad injector. Replaced that and the Tps and all is well. Body is pristine and we don't use road salt in Oregon so no rust to speak of.
They'd...
Same here, vibration at 58-70 mph thru the floor/seats, nothing through the steering wheel or shifter. Had Les Schwab do a lug-centric wheel balance last weekend and it's gone. Previous owner had told me where they bought the tires and I knew that that place doesn't have the equipt to do lug...
Take a look at your valve cover gaskets and consider swapping out your coolant temp sensor while you have the plenum(s) off. Had a Homer Simpson "DOHHH!" moment a few weeks after changing my injectors when I realized I needed new gaskets. :frusty: The CTS is only $13-$14 and a little easier to...
I'm going to be changing out my #6 fuel injector (98 SR5) this weekend and from looking at it it doesn't seem like it would be necessary to pull the throttle body, just leave it attached to the plenum. Google and search here gives me mixed answers. Anybody have a definitive answer?
