Having just traded in a 4th gen for a 5th gen, I will say that the 4th gen on the used market are demanding quite a bit and holding their value pretty well. The Torsen center diff on the 4th gen is only found on the limited of the 5th gen so the 4th gen has more "bang for the buck". That being...
The other question would be, is there a way to replace the "shark fin" with something a bit more low profile like the ones on the 4th gen, which is basically flat? Maybe a "guppy fin"???

Since most people spend 90% of their time inside a 4Runner in an urban area, I would think the crawl control and multi-terrain selector on the trail edition rarely gets used. So I'd vote for the Limited.
2009 Trail Edition - Torsen and both a center and rear locker. Yes, you give up some creature comforts of the Sport and Limited Editions, but overall the 09 Trail is the best in my opinion (wished I had one). And you know what they say about opinions...
I was wondering if any Limited owners that have switched wheel size, could shed some light on the ride quality between the stock 20 inch wheels vs. 17 inch wheels. And what about gas mileage? Thanks. :bigok:
Maybe I'm just too anal, but it sounds like there is quite a bit of wear for a car with only 5000 miles on it. Did they take any pictures of the damage for you?
I was told the same thing by my dealer. Available soon in a 6 lug pattern for the 4Runner. Apparently they are waiting for more wheels to come in from Japan before releasing them for sale at $399.00 each.
What would you all recommend for a lightweight 17" wheel? I like the TRD forged wheel but at $399 a pop, that is a bit expensive for 4. What about buying a set of the standard SR5 wheels; what's a good price for used wheels? Anyone know how much the SR5 wheels weigh? Thank you for your...
No salt use in Oregon, yet. Plus, this past winter has been relatively benign and the need for gravel or chemical defrosting did not occur (if it did, it was minimal).
Ok, let me start off by stating that you are free to flame me for this thread if you'd like...
That being said, here is my question: Has anybody used A-Dapt-It USA wheel adapters to convert the 6 lug 5th gen to a 5 lug pattern? I really like some of the 5 lug wheels out there but am concerned...
Can someone tell me of what use is the black plastic fascia hanging just underneath the painted portion on the bottom of the front end of the limited? Any useful purpose? Has anyone tried to remove it? It would seem that the 2-3 inches of black plastic would change the approach angle by...
