    2012 Trail, KDSS, $32,500

2012 Trail Edition KDSS Fully Armored. 132,000 miles. Open to offers, not trades. Clean carfax. Okay guys, I’ve put this off as long as I could, but times change, and it’s time to pass it along. So putting my T4R up for sale. This has been both my daily driver and adventure rig since 95k...

    Paralyzed by indecision on tires

Sure, it was a little of all that really. My rig had 285/70/17s when I got it and I hated how lethargic it felt and 15mpg was about as good as it got. I tried stock tires (take offs) through that summer and mpg was indeed better as was acceleration, however a couple catastrophic punctures off...

    Paralyzed by indecision on tires

Sooo…. I eventually had an epiphany about the same as you. 95% of my miles are on pavement. My 4runner is not only my daily driver and weekend warrior wagon, and may see a lot of highway miles just getting to an rough adventure. Much of what I do tends to be pretty rocky and I’m running solo...

    OME question

So the way it worked out for me was my 2012 Trail had some serious sag even with a leveling kit. Nose dive was horrendous with the Shrockworks front bumper and 12k winch. Since I pull a trailer frequently and will add a rear bumper eventually, I opted for the heavy 889 rear coils. I rode around...

center of hub to top of fender measurements

For my rig as described in my signature below, the average measurements are: Front: 22.25” Rear: 24.0” When I say “average measurements” I mean to say that there are constant inconsistencies in the tilt or lean that i think is an artifact of the KDSS system, the lift, and how I drove/turned...

    Tall and Skinny Tires

Sure do… I’ve been running Cooper AT3 LT 235/80/17’s for almost 3 years now. These E ply are only marginally taller than stock at almost a full 32” tire (I keep them aired up to 45lbs but air down to 20lbs off road) and are no heavier. Thus far, they’ve not left me wanting. For what I do and my...

    Talk me in/out of Spidertrax

I’m still totally on the fence on adding these—at least I was until I impulse-bought sets of 1.25” G-2s this morning and put them on tonight. Just had an alignment done today anyway so time to form an opinion of my own. Here’s the garage pic as she sits now. Looking at it a little closer...

    Lift, Thrust Angle, Track Bar

TLDR: Thrust angle is rather off. Should I do an adjustable track bar given my specs and lift while I’m at it? This past week I swapped out to full OME Nitrochargers and stiffer springs on my 5th gen 2012 KDSS Trail Edition. Upgraded to Camburg UCAs too. Now I’m rocking a full +3” lift with...

    WTB Shrockworks for 5th Gen

Wanted for KDSS 5th gen T4R: Shrockworks skid plates, rock sliders, rear bumper (no swing-out). In Colorado.

    Talk me in/out of Spidertrax

Does anyone know the width (outside of tread to outside of tread) on a stock 5th gen? Just thought to measure and I’m at 69.5 in the front and 70” in the rear. Also put a tape on a stock Bridgestone and there is about 1.25 more tread width to them than I’m running. Thinking out loud, between...

Correction made: 235/80/17 An FYI PM sent on the tires... so I don’t derail my own thread.

This crossed my mind too but given the significantly narrower tires, it may throw less on the side. And likewise for the wheel bearings, I think that’s kinda a wash too for less turning resistance. But truly, I dunno on that. :noidea:

Okay, now that’s the kinda nugget that I’m fishing for. Even tho rock sliders are next on my list, that may be a practical reason for me to add them.

Title pretty much says it all, and my sig line says the rest... just totally on the fence on this one. I’m a form follows function kinda guy and thinking goes something like this: Since each tire is 1.2” narrower than stock, I probably have that much narrower of a wheelbase anyway. Consider...
