That is because you had the light duty p-rated duratracs which are pretty much for a car, they just started making them in c-rated sometime last year.

I run 255/75 duratracs on the wifes car C-rated love the width great in the snow, I noticed no mileage change. I know some genius is going to have something to say about this but running E rated tires on any 4runner is real dumb. They are meant for towing and hauling (a lot) on an already...

What situations do you lock you center diff?

When I said All Wheel Drive I was talking about the people who have said they have all 4 wheels spinning, No you don't none of our 4runners came from the factory with that ability. Also having the "awd" V8 is no different then a V6 you are just in 4wd (diff unlocked) all the time you just don't...

What situations do you lock you center diff?

Not sure why this is so difficult. Just to be clear none of our 4runners are actually All Wheel Drive so when you lock the center diff you are just sending equal power to the front (open) differential and rear (open) differential just like you would if you have driven any old 4wd vehicle. My...

What situations do you lock you center diff?

I would recommend turning the diff lock on almost every time you go into 4wd unless your just driving around in 4wd on dry pavement like an idiot. No it does not make the steering harder you might notice some tension on tight turns but cv's do much better then u-joints. I personally hate the...

    How boned am I? [Rust]

Coming from new England that looks a hell of a lot like road salt rust. No offense but you also paid way too much, I bought a 06 sport with 68,000 miles from toyota a little over a year ago in mint condition with zero rust and every record from the guy who bought it new there for $15,000. Not...

Anything about your 4R that just drives you crazy?????

I have a set of rigid industries flush mount dually floods that are going into the rear bumper this spring. Just bothers me how bad the factory lights are

Anything about your 4R that just drives you crazy?????

There are only 2 things for me that are almost unforgiveable. First are the ridiculously bad back up lights, I have better then 20/20 vision and I have to open the window and look back to make out anything. Second is the vsc-trac control bordering on dangerous, I love pulling out into traffic...

Shouldn't all the wheels be spinning in 4wd?

An incredible amount of people do not understand this. Almost every vehicle ever made is one wheel drive or 2 wheel drive when in 4wd. The only way you get power to all wheels is if you have lockers which only came stock in some international (scouts/pickups) and jeep rubicons (selectable) and...

4.6 1URFE motor and transmission swap

I vote for the re-gear, you won't be losing anything and will be happy with the lower gears with your stock motor or the motor you want to swap in. Also as stated no motor swap is going to help your budget and the 4.0 is probably one of the best motors Toyota has ever made. If you really want...

    Anyone running 255/75r17?

    porqupine what bumper is that?

    can't read dipstick

The dip stick is just about useless because it is too smooth (almost polished) I knurled the section in between the lines now I can read it perfectly. Most of you will not be able to do this so my suggestion would be to file small hatch marks or take some rough sand paper to it.

    Anyone running 255/75r17?

I don't want to go over 32" on the tire and for all intensive purposes I think the skinnier tire will help on the road with snow rain etc. I like the duratracs I know they are a little aggressive but I really like them on my plow truck. Really appreciate the feedback hope to get the lift on...

    Anyone running 255/75r17?

About to install a burtman 2/1 kit on my girlfriends 06 and am trying to figure out what size tire to run. I am looking at the good year duratrac 255/75r17 which is 32x10 is anyone running this size tire?

Battery died today and need a good replacement

Can't go wrong with Interstate. I personally do not like optima or odyssey unless you really need a battery that can be flipped upside down I don't see the benefit and they do not last as long.
