    2004 4runner - seized brake calipers?

13,000 kms later...another seized caliper. This is a joke, seriously...including the original calipers this will be caliper number 6. Truck has only ever been serviced by Toyota, 2 year interval brake fluid flushes, etc...we defered replacing this truck last year as my wife still liked it but...

Frozen Calipers - How many others had this problem?

As point of reference, we live in Vancouver, BC which rarely sees snow or freezing temperatures therefore there is little to no salt used on our roads. We do, however, see our fair share of rain so perhaps that's the issue. As for the Gen 5 calipers having the same issue, I think that is a...

Frozen Calipers - How many others had this problem?

Posted this in my original thread but is is buried so: Our truck now needs front brakes again and guess what? More seized calipers! Good times, so much for that "updated" design, Toyota. I guess I should be thankful only that it is only one calper this time...also the truck has only gone...

    2004 4runner - seized brake calipers?

So I'm updating this original post as our truck now needs front brakes again and guess what? More seized calipers! Good times, so much for that "updated" design, Toyota. I guess I should be thankful only that it is only one calper this time...also the truck has only gone another 30,000 miles...

    '04 air suspenion issue

That is exactly the same issue as I had. One new sensor and all is good until the other side decides it wants to go out. You can try and cycle the system but after all the fiddling around I did there was really only one cure.

    '04 air suspenion issue

So after all that I pulled the sensors and one was totaly rusted out. I seriously considered going the aftermarket route but this truck is a daily driver for my wife and child so I replaced the hooped sensor. At least I saved the labor by doing it myself. The system works fine again but I'm...

    '04 air suspenion issue

Hi all, I have an on going issue with the rear self leveling suspension on our 4runner. The system works fine but it seems out of adjustment in that the low setting is what should be neutral, neutral is high and high is extra high. The system works fine otherwise so I was wondering if anyone...

    XREAS rear height sensors

Snap, thanks a lot for the clarification...this truck has more onboard systems then my M Coupe! Any way I'm going to pull the sensors this weekend as they are easily located and crack them open.

    XREAS rear height sensors

Hi all, It seems that our truck is often in the "high" level in the rear suspension. Also it will start adjusting for no particular reason so I'm guessing the height sensors need to be cleaned / replaced. Has anyone cracked open the height sensors to clean / service the contact points, etc...

Strange grinding when coming to a stop on a hill

Thanks to all for the replies. I think there are a few different things at work...given this only happens when there is significant weight transfer to the front wheels I think there is some additional brake force being applied causing the noise. Perhaps there is some additional clamping force...

Strange grinding when coming to a stop on a hill

It does have the adjustable suspension and I will try disabling it on the same hills but if it is making this sort of metal on metal grinding then something is seriously wrong! It is a very strange grinding because it sounds exactly like metal on metal, worn out brakes.

Strange grinding when coming to a stop on a hill

Hi all, We get a strange metal on metal type of grinding when the truck is about to come to a complete stop on a steep hill from the rear of the vehicle. My first thoughts was the back brakes are toast so I popped the wheels and the pads are a 40% plus. I asked the dealer and they had a look...

    Engine ticking

We have a 2004 V8 Limited with less then 40,000 miles that has just recently started to tick like it had a sticky lifter only after it is warm and then been shut down for a short period of time. Upon starting it up again, it now will tick and I am almost certain it is a goofy injector. Makes...

    2004 4runner - seized brake calipers?

Well Toyota Canada came thruogh and replaced both calipers under goodwill. That makes me feel a lot better overall and my out of pocket expense was only $98.00. Props to the dealer as well, he was the one who made this happen! He figures the new caliper is an updated part which is supposed to...

    2004 4runner - seized brake calipers?

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: 2004 4runner - seized brake calipers? Thanks...the truck goes in on Friday so we'll see how it all shakes out. I don't have the luxury of waiting to fix this myself as it is the primary transportation for my family. Our other car is a BMW Z4 M Coupe which my...
